4/04/20 BLOW AWAY THE CHAFF
VISION:
I saw a bridal veil flying in the wind. The wind was
strong enough for the veil to blow horizontally. I watched
it moving up and down.
2 Corinthians 3:14-18 But their minds were blinded: for
until this day remains the same veil not taken away in the
reading of the old covenant; which veil is done away in
Christ. 15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the
veil is upon their hearts. 16 Nevertheless when one shall
turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away. 17 Now the
Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is,
there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face
beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are changed
into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the
Spirit of the Lord.
The veil represents a layer or barrier between the bride and
groom. Usually she walks down the aisle towards him
covered, and when they meet face to face he lifts the veil
from her face before they continue with the ceremony.
Today I had some unusual thoughts about seeing the veil
blowing. It reminded me to chaff blowing in the wind and I
suddenly thought of women whose hair is growing grey because
they aren’t able to get hair dye during the pandemic. And
those who are stuck at home and are taking a break from
wearing makeup and work clothes. All the women whose nails
are losing their perfect manicures and all the men whose
hair is growing shabby! Smiles.
I thought those were odd thoughts to think regarding the
bridal veil and then I realized how much people wear masks.
It is as though the masks are being stripped away and people
are becoming real. They are facing their raw, naked selves
and what really matters in life is being known. For some it
is a wakeup call. For some it is precious family time. For
some it is a time to rest, relax and become still before the
Lord.
1 Corinthians 13:11-13 When I was a child, I spoke as a
child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but
when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now
we see in a mirror dimly; but then face to face: now I know
in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 13
And now abides faith, hope, love, these three; but the
greatest of these is love.
