PLAY DOUGH PARABLE:  "CONFORMED"  5/03/10

QUICKENED SONG:  Today in the car, my grandson suddenly sang the patty cake song:

Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker's man.

Bake me a cake as fast as you can;

Roll it, pat it and put it in a pan

Put it in the oven for baby and me.

QUICKENED REMINDER;  After he sang, I reminded him that was what we do when we play with play dough and I realized it was a Word from the Lord.  When I searched my files for Joyce's funny parable below, I realized I had forgotten to post it. God is amazing to remind us when we need it.  We just need to be sensitive to what is quickened

PLAY DOUGH PRUNING  1/08/10

I watched Joyce Meyers this week and laughed when she had her yellow clay that she was flattening.  She put a gingerbread cookie cutter over the flat clay and that was the “image of Jesus” all nicely formed.  And then she started taking off all the excess around the cutter.  She said, "OH NO Lord, not that THAT!"

Rom 8:29-30 NKJV

For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

CONFORMED

NT:4832

NT:4832 summorphos (soom-mor-fos'); from NT:4862 and NT:3444; jointly formed, i.e. (figuratively) similar:

KJV - conformed to, fashioned like unto.

NT:3444

NT:3444 morphe (mor-fay'); perhaps from the base of NT:3313 (through the idea of adjustment of parts); shape; figuratively, nature:

KJV - form.

LIKENESS

NT:1504

NT:1504 eikon (i-kone'); from NT:1503; a likeness, i.e. (literally) statue, profile, or (figuratively) representation, resemblance:

KJV - image.

NT:1503

NT:1503 eiko (i'-ko); apparently a primary verb [perhaps akin to NT:1502 through the idea of faintness as a copy]; to resemble:

KJV - be like.

NT:1502

NT:1502 eiko (i'-ko); apparently a primary verb; properly, to be weak, i.e. yield:

KJV - give place.

It was very funny and real.  I had been playing Play-dough with my grandson and teaching him how to pull off the excess around the cookie cutters!  Now I will never be able to play Play-dough with him without remembering that amazing parable.

God takes all the excess stuff off our lives that weighs us down and that does not belong in Jesus’ image!

Heb 12:1-2 NKJV

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight , and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith...

Teaching him how to flatten the dough with his little hands was such a precious memory.  We graduated to a rolling pin when I bought refrigerator cookie dough for Christmas.  That was quickened to me – the “pressing” part.  Ever felt stream rolled?  Hmmmm.  We may be hard pressed but we are promised we will not be crushed.

2 Cor 4:7-10 NKJV

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us. We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed ; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed —  always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.

ANNIE’S VISIONS: A GRAIN OF WHEAT

http://www.penieluruguay.org/

“As I went to prayer in a certain place, many sorrowful memories swept over my mind. In this atmosphere of unbelief there was much opposition; nevertheless, the Spirit of the Lord finally drew near and carried me through the darkness of spiritual enemies to the glorious entrance of the great cross of light. How welcome it always is to me, for I know that just beyond the cross He awaits me. In the passing through that cross-door, all the sorrows, fears and stains of earth are melted away and I am then ready to enter into His Presence. Passing through that wondrous cross, I heard His voice coming to me telling me not to fear. As always, all fears were fully washed away, and I found myself standing before that mighty Cloud of highest glory.

When He told me to look, I looked and saw a beautiful field of grain like unto ripe wheat which belonged to Him. He plucked one of the grains of wheat, then showed me the process that all of His grain was going to have to pass through.

He brought the little grain that He had taken in His hand to an angel of great stature and might, who held in his hands two large mill stones. This mighty angel of great, beautiful and tender love, put the grain between the stones and bruised and crushed it with great vigor, smashing and breaking it into very fine powder.

What great tenderness and love, the Lord took this ground grain and carried it to another place, where I saw a stone of bread. It was not a loaf I saw, but a stone. The Lord told me that this was His bread that He was making, and then proceeded to take this finely ground grain and kneaded and molded and formed  it unto that stone of bread. He looked with much love at this lovely bread filled with life and light and cared for it most tenderly. I was astonished at the love He showed for this stone of fine bread. Afterwards He told me that He would have to take all of His other grain through this same process in order to make fine bread of it.”

{end Annie’s Vision}

Isa 28:23-29  NKJV

Give ear and hear my voice, Listen and hear my speech. 24 Does the plowman keep plowing all day to sow? Does he keep turning his soil and breaking the clods? 25 When he has leveled its surface, Does he not sow the black cummin And scatter the cummin, Plant the wheat in rows, The barley in the appointed place, And the spelt in its place? 26 For He instructs him in right judgment, His God teaches him. 27 For the black cummin is not threshed with a threshing sledge,Nor is a cartwheel rolled over the cummin; But the black cummin is beaten out with a stick, And the cummin with a rod. 28 Bread flour must be ground; Therefore he does not thresh it forever, Break it with his cartwheel, Or crush it with his horsemen. 29 This also comes from the Lord of hosts, Who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance.

PRAYER:  So Lord, please form, shape, and make adjustments on our parts.  We yield and give place to You, that we may represent, resemble and be like You on this earth.

Flatten us (humble)

Shape us (conform)

Prune us (remove baggage)

Bake us (in Your fire)

When we come out of the fires of being tested, may our aroma be sweet, and may the fruit of our lives strengthen many as they partake in Jesus Name.

1 Peter 1:6-7 NKJV

...that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ...
