READER QUESTION – DOES GOD CREATE EVIL?
The bible says "...I make peace, and create evil: I the
Lord do all these things." Isaiah 45:7
If God creates evil how do we explain that? He knows no
sin yet He creates it? It just affirms more that He is
truly in control of everything and that He is Sovereign.
Just want to understand it better.
SANDY RESPONSE
In the original Hebrew, it is
translated differently. It could be translated to say
that He chooses, dispatches, forms as in carving wood or
maybe fashioning pottery… all of the following ideas:
darkness; figuratively,
misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow,
wickedness, from 7489; bad or (as noun) evil (natural or
moral):— adversity, affliction, bad, calamity, +
displease(-ure), distress, evil((- favouredness), man,
thing), + exceedingly, X great, grief(-vous), harm,
heavy, hurt(-ful), ill (favoured), + mark, mischief(-vous),
misery, naught(-ty), noisome, + not please, sad(-ly),
sore, sorrow, trouble, vex, wicked(-ly, -ness, one),
worse(-st), wretchedness, wrong.
Here is Youngs Literal Translation:
Isaiah 45:7 Forming light, and preparing darkness,
Making peace, and preparing evil, I [am] Jehovah, doing
all these things.'
God is good and He is love. Real love must have free
will without control. Therefore satan was allowed
freewill and he chose to rebel and take 1/3rd
of the angels with him. When satan fell, all of God’s
goodness was taken from him, he is void of all the
goodness of God and that is what makes him evil. satan
planted evil in the earth and caused Adam to disobey
God. God chooses to allow satan’s hosts to discipline
and judge mankind when they sin, and He fashions these
things and uses the demonic for His purposes to bring
judgment and other things to accomplish His purposes.
Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created,
that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and
invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: all things were created by
him, and for him:
Consider this scene in the throne room:
1 Kings 22:19-23 And he said, Hear you therefore the
word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne,
and all the host of heaven standing by him on his right
hand and on his left. 20 And the LORD said, Who shall
persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at
Ramoth-gilead? And one said on this manner, and another
said on that manner. 21 And there came forth a spirit,
and stood before the LORD, and said, I will persuade
him. 22 And the LORD said unto him, By what means? And
he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit
in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, You shall
persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so. 23
Now therefore, behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit
in the mouth of all these your prophets, and the LORD
has spoken evil concerning you.
Also consider this scene:
Job 1:6-12 Now there was a day when the sons of God
came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan
came also among them. 7 And the LORD said unto Satan,
From where come you? Then Satan answered the LORD, and
said, From going to and fro on the earth, and from
walking up and down on it. 8 And the LORD said unto
Satan, Have you considered my servant Job, that there is
none like him in the earth, a blameless and an upright
man, one that fears God, and turns away from evil? 9
Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Does Job fear
God for nothing? 10 Have not you made a hedge about him,
and about his house, and about all that he has on every
side? you have blessed the work of his hands, and his
possessions are increased in the land. 11 But put forth
your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will
curse you to your face. 12 And the LORD said unto Satan,
Behold, all that he has is in your power; only upon
himself put not forth your hand. So Satan went forth
from the presence of the LORD.
Judges 9:23 Then God sent an evil spirit between
Abimelech and the men of Shechem; and the men of Shechem
dealt treacherously with Abimelech:

When satan and his angels
were kicked out of heaven, and also the book of
Revelation are the biggest love stories ever. God wants
a family and a place for His children to live in loving
safety without evil. He will be destroying all that is
evil in the last day, purging the earth and bringing
about His kingdom to rule as it was meant to be for
1,000 years before creating a new heaven and earth.
Most people do not understand the nature of Who God
is. He is both fierce/ severe and kind/ good.
Romans 11:20-23 Well; because of unbelief they were
broken off, and you stand by faith. Be not arrogant, but
fear: 21 For if God spared not the natural branches,
take heed lest he also not spare you. 22 Behold
therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them who
fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you
continue in his goodness: otherwise you also shall be
cut off. 23 And they also, if they abide not still in
unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft
them in again.
One of the 7 spirits of God is called the fear of the
Lord.
Isaiah 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest
upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the
spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and
of the fear of the LORD;
Remember Ananias and Sapphira who lied to the Holy
Spirit and died immediately.
Acts 5:9-11 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that
you have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the
Lord? behold, the feet of them who have buried your
husband are at the door, and shall carry you out. 10
Then she fell down immediately at his feet, and died:
and the young men came in, and found her dead, and,
carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. 11 And
great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as
heard these things.
He is eternal, and He created both men and angels as
eternal beings and they cannot be destroyed and cease to
exist. Because He is pure love, He does not tolerate
evil of any kind and therefore His passion is to
separate evil from good. At the end, all that is evil
will be separated and cast into the lake of fire and all
will leave all that is good to live in His love and
peacefully as God’s family.
God does not CREATE evil, but since it exists, He uses
evil as instruments of judgment in order to get the evil
out of men, and bring them to repentance. He works
everything to be together for good for His family.
Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together
for good to them that love God, to them who are the
called according to his purpose.
There are counsels in heaven and hell that take place
regularly. All have creative reason to plan and plot
purposes. He created all to be creative with violation
and have personalities to think on their own freewill.
