RHEMA 2/12/08 DON’T MAKE COMMITMENTS YOU CANT KEEP
QUICKENED MEMORY: Last month the Lord spoke to me
about people who make promises and then break them. In
these last few years, He has been teaching me how to
follow through and respond appropriately to people when
they fail, and also stay faithful to my assignments in
the Lord, regardless of being disappointed.
HEARD: Salesman. Dont make promises you cant
keep.
HEARD [right after I was praying over the pain of
that time]: Bitter pill, it depends on which way you
look at it. We’ll
make it up to you. I promise. Commitment. You
followed through, you kept your appointments.
Assignment, yes you followed it. You followed My
instructions.
HEARD: Contention. It’s a kind way to close
the doors. Forgiveness. You did that. Yes you
followed through.
VISION: I had in my hand a pile of
transparent 1 inch marbles. They were very pretty and
looked like clear agates. There were too many of them
to fit in my hand and 2 fell out and rolled away on the
floor in a public meeting place where people were
sitting facing the front. In trying to juggle the
marbles I had, in an effort to retrieve those I had
dropped, I dropped 3 more. I then realized if I wanted
to retrieve what fell from my hand, I would have to set
the rest aside and leave them and not carry them with
me. I knew if I didnt, I was in danger of losing more
and I could find no place safe to set down what I still
had in my hand.
HEARD: I’m coming back. How long do you have
to be gone? Not necessarily so. I will if He says to.
IMPRESSION: I had the impression that the
conversation was about being gone in order to go after
the marbles that had dropped to the ground.
HEARD: Ugh EXCUSE ME. (I was surprised
when I heard that. I suddenly knew the Lord had been
listening to people’s thoughts above and He was trying
to get room to speak what HIS perspective was about
where they were going.
COMMENT: Then I proceeded to hear the Lord tell
me several things that were NOT my assignment from Him.
I was actually surprised, relieved and grateful to hear
what He was not expecting from me.
Matt 5:33-37 AMP
Again, you have heard that it was said to the men of
old, You shall not swear falsely, but you shall perform
your oaths to the Lord {as a religious duty}. But I
tell you, Do not bind yourselves by an oath at all:
either by heaven, for it is the throne of God; Or by
the earth, for it is the footstool of His feet; or by
Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. {Ps
48:2; Isa 66:1.} And do not swear by your head, for you
are not able to make a single hair white or black. Let
your Yes be simply Yes, and your No be simply No;
anything more than that comes from the evil one. {Lev
19:12; Num 30:2; Deut 23:21.}
WORD TO PONDER: 2/12/08 DON’T COMMIT TO MORE THAN
YOU CAN CARRY
When your hands are more than full, and you have too
much to carry, listen. When you are moving and juggling
a lot of issues from one place to another, and there is
no room to put them down to rest, listen. Precious
ones, heed the cost of commitment. Resist making
promises you can not keep. Do not schedule yourselves
so thin that you can not keep your appointments. I have
already given you assignments and loads to carry, so
consider what you already have in your hand.
In this season, I have not asked you to go back and
recover something you have lost. I will be giving you
an entire season of restoring years of loss. Right now,
I want you to concentrate on what you already have in
your care and be faithful to move it into alignment with
My will and purposes, and not bite off more than you can
chew. Please ask Me about new opportunities before
making your decisions. You are in danger of losing what
you are already carrying if you carry more right now, so
stay low and pray.
Luke 14:28-31 NKJV
For which of you, intending to build a tower, does
not sit down first and count the cost , whether he has
enough to finish it — lest, after he has laid the
foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it
begin to mock him, saying, 'This man began to build and
was not able to finish.'
Luke 9:61-62 NKJV
And another also said, "Lord, I will follow You, but
let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my
house." But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his
hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the
kingdom of God." |
