QUICKENED SCRIPTURES: FAMINE AND HARDENED HEARTS
THAT DO NOT BELIEVE 3/27/11
One of the intercessions I have been in for years is
building a bridge and opening a pathway for people to be
able to hear and see what the Lord is saying and doing.
There has been many aspects to this intercession and one
of them is about overcoming a famine of hearing God.
A famine of hearing God is a judgment caused by unbelief
which is fueled by the deceitfulness of sin, rebellion
and thus hardened hearts against hearing His Word. It
is terrible to be given over to this judgment because
what accompanies this is blind eyes and deaf ears where
a person is unable to repent because they dont see or
hear what they are supposed to repent from.
Amos 8:11-12 NKJV
"Behold, the days are coming," says the Lord God,
"That I will send a famine on the land, not a famine of
bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words
of the Lord.
They shall wander from sea to sea, and from north to
east; They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the
Lord, but shall not find it.
Acts 19:8-10 NKJV
And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for
three months, reasoning and persuading concerning the
things of the kingdom of God. 9 But when some were
hardened and did not believe, but spoke evil of the Way
before the multitude, he departed from them and withdrew
the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of
Tyrannus. 10 And this continued for two years, so that
all who dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus,
both Jews and Greeks.
Mark 6:52 NKJV
For they had not understood about the loaves, because
their heart was hardened.
Mark 8:17-19 NKJV
But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, "Why do
you reason because you have no bread? Do you not yet
perceive nor understand? Is your heart still hardened?
18 Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you
not hear? And do you not remember?
John 12:39-40 NKJV
Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said
again: "He has blinded their eyes and hardened their
hearts, lest they should see with their eyes, lest they
should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I
should heal them."
Heb 3:12-15 NKJV
Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil
heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13
but exhort one another daily, while it is called
"Today," lest any of you be hardened through the
deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of
Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence
steadfast to the end, 15 while it is said: "Today, if
you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in
the rebellion."
PRAYER: Lord we earnestly desire to hear You.
We want Your Word above all else in our lives. Please
forgive our unbelief and hardness of hearts because we
have rebelled against Your Word. Our hearts are cold,
we have little compassion. Our faith is weak and we do
not believe You. Hearing Your Word and seeing Your
works, we do not believe them or walk in them. As a
culture we have totally failed and disregarded Your
Word. We have chosen the world and its pleasure and not
walked in obedience, nor have we chosen to please You
with our lifestyles and choices. Please grant us the
gift of repentance, that we would see the Truth of where
we have failed, and be able to repent and turn once
again to You and Your Word. Lord please deliver us from
blind eyes and deaf ears. Grant Your mercy to triumph
so the famine of hearing would be broken in Jesus Name.
