READER QUESTION: HOW DO YOU HARVEST YOUR RHEMA?
6/09/13
I can see is you have a process of hearing God and
harvesting the rhema. That is something I still struggle
with. I do record all my dreams and visions, but maybe I
do not think they have application for the body of
Christ and more think it is either personal or for our
church.
If you have time. I would be interested in understanding
more about how you harvest and connect your rhema.
SANDY RESPONSE
Yes I totally understand the struggle. Recording my
rhema is something I have been doing since 1984. I
discovered with pix, visions and hearing, that I would
totally forget in the morning what I saw and heard at
night unless I recorded them. Dreams are pretty easy to
remember, but not the other ways God speaks at night.
At first I used a flashlight pen under the covers. Then
I moved to the other bedroom when my night activities
kept Wayne awake and now I use a mini hand held
recorder. I am always excited to find out what I
received, it is almost always a surprise!
FAITHFUL TO THE ASSIGNMENT
I developed the habit of keeping up, because I suffered
too much NOT to. It was a burden on me emotionally and
there was little fellowship in it for me, to just do the
labor and the job of typing. So after much prayer, He
gave me the passion and grace to change my habits. Part
of the joy of doing it daily (as much as possible) is
that I spend time chewing, researching scripture and
pondering it. If it is too much of a load, then it
becomes a job.
There is nothing wrong with it being a job. I
understand part of my calling is to be a Mary, a scribe
and so I do my best to be faithful to stay at that
post. Faithfulness IS a job and a commitment. But the
joy of it, is the fellowship I gain from it with the
Lord and also the people the Words minister to as we
share increasing levels of revelations and confirmations
regarding the subjects.
Luke 2:19 But Mary kept all these things, and
pondered them in her heart.
Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, who
in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep
it, and bring forth fruit with patience.
THE WORDS YOU HEAR REFLECT YOUR CALLING AND PURPOSE
You mentioned not knowing about the application of your
dreams and visions, whether they are for you or the
church or others. That is a very important question and
the answer to that is knowing your calling and how you
fit. For instance He has called me a forerunner and a
bridge and I have walked ahead preparing a way for
others to follow. By the very nature of the Words, they
are prophetic. I know that even my life is a prophetic
sign, and so as much as I can I share out of its wealth,
it is His Word to others. Therefore I know that the
Words I receive are not just for me but for those who
are following.
Isaiah 62:10 Go through, go through the gates;
prepare you the way of the people; build up, build up
the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a banner for
the people.
Another very important part of my life is walking out
intercessions. That has been very private to me (thus
far) and that rhema fills my journals that are not
public. So I try to share a careful balance in being
transparent as much as I can, but not uncover what needs
covered. When I hear things regarding intercessions,
the Lord shares His secrets to me, like I might be
watching a sermon on Christian TV and the Lord tells me
something about the minister, etc. Then I pray and then
the Lord shares more rhema about the same concept
revealing it isn’t just about that one minister but many
ministers, and thus it continues as a journey of hearing
and praying.
Galatians 4:19 My little children, of whom I travail
in birth again until Christ be formed in you,
Another part of my calling is to be His witness. He has
called me to share my testimony of what I see and hear
Him doing and saying. He has told me that I have
complete liberty to share my personal life transparently
as much or as little as I want, as it is a volunteer
testimony and there is a cost involved.
Matthew 13:21 Yet has he not root in himself, but
endures for a while: for when tribulation or persecution
arises because of the word, immediately he is offended.
Lastly, the Lord gathers the prophetic into schools
where they learn and grow from one another’s Words. He
has meant them to partner together in a body of kindred
language and hearts. And He gives each of His students
parts and pieces that were meant to gather as a whole.
It is important for each to learn how to share their
parts so that others can grow up together.
1 Corinthians 13:9 For we know in part, and we
prophesy in part.
The Lord has many purposes for His Word, but it is
always to PLANT into the earth, to bring forth a
harvest. We can plant His Word through prayer, decree,
prophesying, death to self, worship, poetry, music, art,
etc, etc!
Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goes forth out
of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it
shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall
prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
GATHERING AND HARVESTING RHEMA
As to harvesting rhema, when I hear or see something
during the day that is quickened to me, I am drawn by it
and kindled to it. That could be a quote, or a bumper
sticker! I speak it in the recorder and then when I
type it, it is inserted into that date. When I go to
harvest it, often I realize that within a few days
before or after that the Lord has been talking about
that, and so I add it as an insert to the subject, but
keeping the date intact of when it was actually given to
me. So as I harvest, I build themes like as you see the
actual posts come out, with indented material,
scriptures, quotes, etc. The Lord gives me the
ingredients of His food and then I compile and cook it.
I try to show the process so that people learn how to
fish for food, not just given a meal.
Isaiah 28:9-10 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and
whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are
weaned from the milk, and taken from the breasts. 10 For
precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line
upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a
little.
The actual
connecting of the pieces is part of the fellowship I
experience in Him. It is not just a brain activity of
compiling “stuff.” I am keenly aware He is
leading me with eye glances to a certain place, and
quickened memory. He is the One bringing me all the
pieces of rhema and then He uses other ways He speaks to
help me connect them. We are doing it together. Most
of it is being drawn and led by His Spirit, like a
feeling to reach for my Words to Ponder book for an
anointed hands, or a memory of a buzz word that He once
spoke. I type the buzz word into my database and sure
enough that was the rhema He wanted inserted right
there.
The whole process is a fellowship where I experience
that He is encircling me with His Word.
Psa 139:5-6 NLT
You go before me and follow me. You place your hand
of blessing on my head. 6 Such knowledge is too
wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!
