QUESTION: IS IT THE LORD’S WILL TO HEAL ALL?
The ultimate will of God is total and complete healing
because His desire is to have the same kingdom that is
in heaven, here on earth and He tells us to pray this
continually. Whatever is in heaven, He wants here and
there is simply no sickness in heaven.
Luke 11:2 And he said unto them, When you pray, say,
Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be your name. Your
kingdom come. Your will be done, as in heaven, so on
earth.
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears
from their eyes; and there shall be no more death,
neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any
more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Why Are People Sick?
God sometimes says yes, seems to say no (because people
die) and sometimes He says wait. However that doesn’t
negate His desire that there be no sickness on earth or
in our lives. I think that those who have their mind
made up on only one possibility are stuck in mindsets
because the scriptures share all sides of the subject.
They don’t resolve into one answer except that God
is Sovereign.
Here are some issues that weave into this topic. We
always want to embrace scripture for our answers.
1) MAN TO HAVE DOMINION
He wants man to have dominion and rule over the earth
and it is a big mess now, but that will be totally
fulfilled in the millennium and then into eternity. We
don’t sit and wait until then, instead we advance,
overcome and take back what the enemy stole from us.
God has put us here to learn to rule and reign and have
darkness under our feet. We are called to be overcomers
and the last thing to overcome is death.
Ps 115:16 NKJV
The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's; But the
earth He has given to the children of men.
Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of
Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution,
or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is
written, For your sake we are killed all the day long;
we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37 Nay, in
all these things we are more than conquerors through him
that loved us. 38 For I am persuaded, that neither
death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor
powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39 Nor
height, nor depth, nor any other creation, shall be able
to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
1 Corinthians 15:23-26 But every man in his own
order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are
Christ's at his coming. 24 Then comes the end, when he
shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the
Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all
authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he has
put all enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that
shall be destroyed is death.
2) OVERCOME UNBELIEF
Scripture clearly says that He did not many mighty works
in the region he grew up in, because of their unbelief.
Matthew 13:54-58 And when he came into his own
country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they
were astonished, and said, From where has this man this
wisdom, and these mighty works? 55 Is not this the
carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his
brothers, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? 56 And
his sisters, are they not all with us? from where then
has this man all these things? 57 And they were offended
in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not
without honor, except in his own country, and in his own
house. 58 And he did not many mighty works there because
of their unbelief.
3) GOD ALLOWS OUR FAITH TO BE TESTED
God is Sovereign and we have to embrace the book of Job
as a part of God’s choice. The bottom line of Job’s
story was that due to satan’s challenge, God said yes to
a season of testing and Job was sick and lost a LOT of
stuff. But it wasn’t God’s will that Job remain and die
in that season, rather it was His will to ultimately
reward and recompense Job.
Job 2:1-10 Again there was a day when the sons of God
came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan
came also among them to present himself before the LORD.
2 And the LORD said unto Satan, From where come you? And
Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro
on the earth, and from walking up and down on it. 3 And
the LORD said unto Satan, Have you considered my servant
Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a
blameless and an upright man, one that fears God, and
turns away from evil? and still he holds fast his
integrity, although you moved me against him, to destroy
him without cause. 4 And Satan answered the LORD, and
said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man has will he
give for his life. 5 But put forth your hand now, and
touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse you to
your face. 6 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is
in your hand; but spare his life. 7 So went Satan forth
from the presence of the LORD, and struck Job with
painful boils from the sole of his foot unto the crown
of his head. 8 And he took himself a potsherd to scrape
himself with; and he sat down among the ashes. 9 Then
said his wife unto him, Do you still retain your
integrity? curse God, and die. 10 But he said unto her,
You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. What?
shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we
not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his
lips.
Paul’s afflictions are the same issue. Many argue about
what exactly they were, but whatever his afflictions and
his thorn in the flesh were, he submitted to God in them
and the Lord used them in his life.
2 Corinthians 12:7-10 And lest I should be exalted
above measure through the abundance of the revelations,
there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the
messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be
exalted above measure. 8 For this thing I besought the
Lord three times, that it might depart from me. 9 And he
said unto me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my
strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly
therefore will I rather boast in my weaknesses, that the
power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take
pleasure in weaknesses, in reproaches, in necessities,
in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for
when I am weak, then am I strong.
Another example is the pool of Bethesda. Wherever Jesus
roamed, scripture says that He healed them ALL. But
with all the people surrounding the pool of Bethesda,
that day Jesus healed only one man, and he had to wait a
LONG time. Jesus only did what He saw and heard the
Father doing and saying. Just think of how many years
that guy laid there in utter hopeless despair.
John 5:2-8 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep
market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue
Bethesda, having five porches. 3 In these lay a great
multitude of invalid folk, of blind, lame, paralyzed,
waiting for the moving of the water. 4 For an angel went
down at a certain time into the pool, and troubled the
water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the
water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he
had. 5 And a certain man was there, who had an infirmity
thirty and eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying
there, and knew that he had been now a long time in that
condition, he said unto him, Will you be made whole? 7
The invalid man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when
the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but
while I am coming, another steps down before me. 8 Jesus
said unto him, Rise, take up your bed, and walk.
4) GOD’S TIMING
Jesus delayed on purpose and allowed His good friend
Lazarus to die and stay in the tomb 4 days before He
came to deliver him. They asked Jesus why? And Jesus’
reply was that it was for the glory of God that He did
this.
John 11:3-4 Therefore his sisters sent unto him,
saying, Lord, behold, he whom you love is sick. 4 When
Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto
death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God
might be glorified thereby.
John 11:32-44 Then when Mary came where Jesus was,
and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him,
Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have
died. 33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the
Jews also weeping who came with her, he groaned in his
spirit, and was troubled, 34 And said, Where have you
laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. 35
Jesus wept. 36 Then said the Jews, Behold how he loved
him! 37 And some of them said, Could not this man, who
opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this
man should not have died? 38 Jesus therefore again
groaning in himself came to the grave. It was a cave,
and a stone lay upon it. 39 Jesus said, Take away the
stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, said
unto him, Lord, by this time he stinks: for he has been
dead four days. 40 Jesus said unto her, Said I not unto
you, that, if you
would believe, you should see the glory of God?
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where
the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and
said, Father, I thank you that you have heard me. 42 And
I knew that you hear me always: but because of the
people who stand by I said it, that they may believe
that you have sent me. 43 And when he thus had spoken,
he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. 44 And
he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with
grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a
cloth. Jesus said unto them, Loose him, and let him go.
In the healing movement of the 50’s they were clearing
out hospitals and then the glory of the Lord lifted
because that generation came under judgments. The day
after that was announced, they couldn’t get any one
healed. When Bob Jones saw Ichabod over the church (Ichabod
means the glory has departed) he was so heart sick, he
told the Lord he just wanted to go home.
And the Lord told Bob that He was preparing a generation
that would not take the glory for themselves or corrupt
it, and when His glory returned to the earth, it would
NEVER EVER depart again. It would be a HABITATION and
not just a visitation. We have had foretastes of His
Presence, and pockets of His glory and it is increasing,
but that divine habitation has not yet returned, rather
it is hovering over us and waiting. And when that
habitations happens it will not be upon a man, it will
be within His body as it was in Jesus. And so we wait
for that day when His mighty power is manifest once
again on the earth!
THE CLOUD DESCENDS
[Annies Visions Book One page70]
Again I was taken into the realms of the Spirit and
lovingly welcomed by the Lord. After covering me with
His love, He especially told me that I need not have any
fear because He would not abandon me. Then He showed me
Himself as the Glorious Cloud of Fire and Light. The
Cloud was the most excited and exceedingly exalted that
I have ever seen it, save in anger and wrath, but this
time He was not in His wrath. Mighty power and all kinds
of rays and emanations were upon all sides. In a most
marvelous and tremendous manner, He was filled with
violence and activity, yet it was not in wrath. I cannot
describe at all what He was like in the Cloud.
Then there came out from Him in a huge wave something
that appeared to be His very own self in mighty glory
and in the Cloud, yet He did not leave His high place in
the heavens either, yet He did. He was in so much
activity and moved about over the heavens that opened
below Him. This great wave of Himself in the Cloud also
descended with tens of thousands of mighty angels down
toward the earth. It did not descend slowly nor softly,
but in great haste and speedy activity. When it was yet
some distance from the earth, it hovered there for a
while, suspended over the heads of the people, but they
did not see it nor did they know it was there and there
it rested.
After a while, this other Cloud that was Himself - so
much so that it seemed that He had partly left the
heavens - became again very active and then with another
speedy movement, it descended again, this time it went
clear on down to the earth and was covered from my view.
Then He spoke saying, "This which you see will not take
my loving sons by surprise because they are waiting for
it to take place. They are already knowing and have been
advised and are waiting for Me to come to them in love,
for they will love My appearing." He also said that His
hour had been fulfilled and that it was now the time
that these thing must shortly take place.
In summary, it is the Lord’s
will to heal all. However there are different reasons
why the Lord withholds healing. And unless the Lord
tells us, we are not privy to those reasons. We can
simply rely on His Sovereignty that He has His perfect
timing and purposes.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven: 2 A time
to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a
time to pluck up that which is planted; 3 A time to
kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a
time to build up; 4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5 A time to cast
away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a
time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a
time to cast away; 7 A time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8 A time to
love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of
peace.
