rhema 11/23/07  MY GOOD PLEASure

HeardI will tell you which way to go, we will do this together.. I will set you free.  Motion.  The Word of Christ dwells in you richly.  My good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

When I heard that last sentence, the term “good pleasure” really stuck out at me.

GOOD PLEASURE

eudokeo

NT:2106 eudokeo (yoo-dok-eh'-o); from NT:2095 and NT:1380; to think well of, i.e. approve (an act); specially, to approbate (a person or thing):

KJV - think good, (be well) please (-d), be the good (have, take) pleasure, be willing.

dokeo

NT:1380 dokeo (dok-eh'-o); a prolonged form of a primary verb, doko (dok'-o) (used only in an alternate in certain tenses; compare the base of NT:1166) of the same meaning; to think; by implication, to seem (truthfully or uncertainly):

KJV - be accounted, (of own) please (-ure), be of reputation, seem (good), suppose, think, trow.

Scriptures about his good pleasure:

Luke 12:32-33 NKJV

"Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

Ephesians 1:5 NKJV

...having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.

Ephesians 1:9 NKJV

,,, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself.

Philippians 2:13 NKJV

...for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

2 Thessalonians 1:11 NKJV

...Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power.

EXPERIENCE:  As I was pondering the word “good pleasure” the Lord quickened my memory of yesterday at Thanksgiving dinner.  Someone mentioned the huge sales they have the day after Thanksgiving and she was going to get up with the crowds and shop.  She joyously brought out some gifts she had already bought for a foster care agency, who had requested her gift donations.  I saw the pleasure and joy on her face and realized how much pleasure it gives her to give gifts.  She truly has the heart of God in her gift of giving.  Often when I write I feel the same pleasure in giving.

GIVE

metadidomi

NT:3330 metadidomi (met-ad-id'-o-mee); from NT:3326 and NT:1325; to give over, i.e. share:

KJV - give, imparticiple

didomi

NT:1325 didomi (did'-o-mee); a prolonged form of a primary verb (which is used as an altern. in most of the tenses); to give (used in a very wide application, properly, or by implication, literally or figuratively; greatly modified by the connection):

KJV - adventure, bestow, bring forth, commit, deliver (up), give, grant, hinder, make, minister, number, offer, have power, put, receive, set, shew, smite (+with the hand), strike (+with the palm of the hand), suffer, take, utter, yield.

Luke 3:11 KJV

He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.

Romans 1:11 KJV

For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;

Romans 12:8 KJV

Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

Ephesians 4:28  KJV

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

1 Thessalonians 2:8 KJV

So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.

HE SPEAKS THROUGH THE GIFT OF GIVING

The gift of giving is the motivation to meet physical, financial, material, and spiritual needs:

Physical: Luke 10:33-35

Financial: Acts 4: 34-36

Material: Luke 3:11

Spiritual: Romans 1:11

The Word says, “Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them...do not sound a trumpet before you...But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing: that your charitable deed may be in secret: and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.”    (Matthew 6:1-4 NKJV)

I am reminded of one particular lady who has always been a “giver.” When she was affluent, she gave of her finances and gave an over abundance of expensive gifts to those around her.  Then when difficult times came, (one time I found out her family had lived on potatoes for a week) she continued to give cards, a quick phone call, and hand made articles.  When even harder times came, and she was out of work, she gave of her life’s energy and helped clean, organize and paint a sickly person’s home.  Why did she do this?  Because the gift to give was deeply entrenched in her heart.  It was the most natural thing in the world to give of her substance, and when that was too small, she gave her labor.  Her gift to give is an extension of the Lord’s generous heart.

The best kind of giving is not with outward flashy show, but rather with humility as this gives grace and dignity to the one who receives.  It also restrains pride in the giver.

A giver is to give without strings attached.  Giving without expectation of anything in return will release the giver to give abundantly and with joy.  If the giver has expectations of receiving, this road will lead to disappointment, unforgiveness, grudges, and finally bitterness.  Expectations also hinder and restrain the receiver from the joy of receiving.  Instead, the receiver is given chains and locks when the gift was meant to be a blessing.

• The gift of giving is the substance carried in Jesus’ hand.  Next time someone imparts something to you, listen to the Lord’s heart and purpose for giving it to you.  He rejoices in being your Provider, and is so blessed when you tell Him, “Thank you.”

WORD TO PONDER:  MY GOOD PLEASURE 11/23/07

My Son, I delight in you.  Adopting you as My own has given Me much pleasure.   I have good pleasure in giving to you, beloved.  I deeply yearn to give you more and more.  It is my earnest desire for you to sup at My table and increase.

It pleases Me when you are willing and active, allowing Me to work in you.  I approve with joy when you walk worthy of your calling, for it fulfills all My pleasure to see you walk in My goodness and the powerful works of faith.
