{Intercession}  OVERCOMING COVET

VISION 1/12/07:  I saw a person’s hand holding a snake of covet by the head and saying, “OK now what do I do?”

PRAYER OF CONSECRATION:  Lord thank You for shining Your spotlight upon the sin of coveting.  Although You have asked us to covet the best gifts and also covet prophesy, You have not wanted us to covet substitutes for You.  We have had passion for work and goals and people.  We have had passion for fellowship and understanding and escape.  Only You know the needs of our hearts and to what degree the passion and zeal has crossed the boundaries into coveting.  No one can truly know without Your revealing the truth and then setting us free with Your truth.  And we realize that finding substitutes to escape from coveting will not heal us of the root problem.

And so we agree with You and hold coveting by its head and bind its power in our lives in Jesus Name.  We snap the head off coveting and command it to die and shrivel up and have no more grip on our souls in Jesus Name.

Lord if there is a strongman of coveting ruling in our souls, we ask Your forgiveness for the many years that our ancestors and also ourselves fed this with thoughts, motives and deeds.  We realize this will be a war where You have asked us to stand and bring famine to that giant, until it is melted and destroyed and no longer reigning.  We bind the strongman of coveting in our hearts in Jesus Name.  We set ourselves to bind and then stand and resist every thought, every desire and every deed that would drive us to feed coveting in Jesus Name.

We commit our souls to be washed by Your Word, Your Spirit and Your blood with each and every time that coveting demands to be fed.  We will starve this out until it has grown weak and destroyed. Each and every day we ask You to take rulership over that throne in our life and replace coveting with passion for You, passion for the best gifts and passion for prophesy, even as Your Word declares.  We want to be holy, consecrated and separated unto You Lord.  And only with a pure heart can we be united with Your people as one.  Let it be so, in Jesus Name.  amen.

2 Cor 10:4-6 NKJV
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing EVERY thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Romans 13:9 NKJV

For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery," "You shall not murder," "You shall not steal," "You shall not bear false witness," "You shall not covet," and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

INSERT PAST WORDS TO PONDER ABOUT COVET

LEARNING CONTENTMENT 6/27/03

Contentment is a tranquility within your heart where you not only appreciate your portion, but also thoroughly utilize it.  When you have your focus upon someone else’s portion, or when you are longing for your promised portion yet to come, it keeps you from thoroughly enjoying what you do have.  This is like the horse that eats the grass on the other side of the fence.  It seems greener and sweeter, yet to continually reach through the fence causes dissatisfied longings.

Turn around and look at what I have given you.  I have supplied a whole field of green pasture for your needs.  When you have enjoyed and utilized what I have given you, I will give you more.

“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."  (Heb 13:5-6 NKJV)

LOVING WITHOUT GRASPING  2/17/05

Learn to love by letting go. There is a yearning of the soul that desires to possess that which does not belong to you.  My love does not covet, it sets free.  Give those that you love into My care.  Yes, you have heard that you give roots and wings to your loved ones. Grant them the stability of knowing you are there for them and then release them one step at a time to learn to crawl, walk, run and then fly into their destinies in Me.

Remember that birds are flighty. If you chase a bird it will fly away.  As you yearn with My Spirit over those you care for, keep the palm of your hand open and like a bird in flight, let them freely come and go in your life as they will.  Remain in loving watch care over their lives and provide an open palm of a warm safe shelter for their hearts.  Stay faithful and you will always have friends no matter what age.

Phil 2:3-8 NLT

Don't be selfish; don't live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. Don't think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and what they are doing.  Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not demand and cling to his rights as God. He made himself nothing; he took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form.

DONT FOCUS ON WHAT YOU DON’T HAVE  5/13/06

Loved one, the world is skewed by rank and file.  If you live with the soul giants of comparison, you will always be lacking and in want.  Release coveting what you don’t own, release jealousy of what you desire for yourself, release comparing your life with another and release competition in keeping up.

Give ownership to me and let Me be the steward over all good gifts.  I give good gifts when you ask.  I bring rewards and promotion in their right seasons.  Learn to be content as you grow, and along with the right focus, seek Me for more.  The sign of inappropriate focus is depression and unrest.  If you are not at peace and content, then you have a barometer that brings warning that you are in the red.  Simply give Me your thoughts and take them captive.  Commit your desires to Me and leave them in My care.

Heb 13:5-6 NKJV

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

Phil 4:11-13 AMP

Not that I am implying that I was in any personal want, for I have learned how to be content (satisfied to the point where I am not disturbed or disquieted) in whatever state I am.  I know how to be abased and live humbly in straitened circumstances, and I know also how to enjoy plenty and live in abundance. I have learned in any and all circumstances the secret of facing every situation, whether well-fed or going hungry, having a sufficiency and enough to spare or going without and being in want.  I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency].

KEEPING YOUR FOCUS 8/01/06

I have asked you to share the milk and honey with those you walk with.  I will help you separate the good and refuse the evil.

In the process of refusing the evil, recognize the traps that grab your focus off Me.  Remove the grasp that covets another’s walk.  Remove the desire to be approved by men’s welcome.  Remove the worry of what others think.  I know you have felt isolated and alone, millions are walking the same.  I am adopting My family together and bringing the needs of the body into perspective so that My people no longer walk alone. I want you to travel as a company, My family joined with every joint supplying.  Do not be afraid to share, keep it up, you are doing well.

Eph 4:15-16 NKJV

Him who is the head — Christ —  from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

COMMENTS: There are 2 kinds of coveting, they both are the same passion but come from different spirits. One side the enemy uses and the other the Lord uses. God says to burn with passion or covet the best gifts. And He says dont covet people, or something that does not belong to us.

THE GODLY COVET:

1 Corinthians 12:31 KJV
But covet (#2206)earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

1 Corinthians 14:39 KJV
Wherefore, brethren, covet (#2206) to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

(Other NT scriptures that use the same Greek word, #2206 covet:

Acts 7:9
And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,

Acts 17:5
But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.

1 Corinthians 12:31
But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

1 Corinthians 13:4
Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

1 Corinthians 14:1
Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

1 Corinthians 14:39
Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues.

2 Corinthians 11:2
For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

Galatians 4:17
They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them.

Galatians 4:17
They zealously affect you, but not well; yea, they would exclude you, that ye might affect them.

Galatians 4:18
But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you.

James 4:2
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

Revelation 3:19
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

THE UNGODLY COVET:

Exodus 20:17 NKJV
17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's."

Exodus 34:24 NKJV
For I will cast out the nations before you and enlarge your borders; neither will any man covet your land when you go up to appear before the LORD your God three times in the year.

Deuteronomy 5:21 NKJV
'You shall not covet your neighbor's wife; and you shall not desire your neighbor's house, his field, his male servant, his female servant, his ox, his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.'

Deuteronomy 7:25 NKJV
You shall burn the carved images of their gods with fire; you shall not covet the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it for yourselves, lest you be snared by it; for it is an abomination to the LORD your God.

Proverbs 12:12 NKJV
The wicked covet the catch of evil men,
But the root of the righteous yields fruit.

Micah 2:2 NKJV
They covet fields and take them by violence,
Also houses, and seize them.
So they oppress a man and his house,
A man and his inheritance.

Romans 7:7 NKJV
Sin's Advantage in the Law
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, "You shall not covet."

James 4:2 NKJV
You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
