11/04/17  SELF DISCIPLINE IN ALL THINGS

HEARD AND SAW:

Will you help me? I have redeemed you.  I will equip you.  Bring down the stronghold in the name of Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:3-6 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;) 5 Casting down arguments, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having a readiness to punish all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

I saw a vision of the side view of the pretty blue house in my Inspire art Bible and then I saw a low brick wall in front of it.  I knew immediately that the wall represents boundaries and saying NO.

Do you want to hear more?  I will tell you the most important first.  Temperance.

TEMPERANCE

Strong's Greek Dictionary
1466. ἐγκράτεια enkrateia (enkráteia)
Search for G1466 in KJVSL; in KJV.

ἐγκράτεια enkráteia, eng-krat'-i-ah

from G1468; self-control (especially continence):—temperance.

feminine noun

Strong's Greek Dictionary
1468. ἐγκρατής enkrates (enkratḗs)
Search for G1468 in KJVSL; in KJV.

ἐγκρατής enkratḗs, eng-krat-ace'

from G1722 and G2904; strong in a thing (masterful), i.e. (figuratively and reflexively) self-controlled (in appetite, etc.):—temperate.

adjective

Galatians 5:22-25 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, self-control: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

1 Corinthians 9:25 And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they [do it] to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

Tit 1:8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good, sensible, just, holy, temperate;

Tit 2:2 That the aged men be sensible, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience

2 Peter 1:5-10 And for this reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; 6 And to knowledge self control; and to self control patience; and to patience godliness; 7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. 10 Therefore rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if you do these things, you shall never fall:

I will help you sweetheart.  I have not forsaken you.  What really matters?  Being obedient.

OBEDIENT SYNONYMS

Attentive, compliant, deferential, devoted, docile, dutiful, faithful, law-abiding, loyal, respectful, subservient, acquiescent, amenable, at one's beck and call, biddable, complaisant, controllable, docious, duteous, governable, honoring, in one's clutches, in one's pocket, in one's power, obeisant, obliging, observant, on a string, pliant, regardful, resigned, reverential, sheeplike, tame, tractable, under control, venerating, well-trained, willing, wrapped around finger, yielding.

WORD TO PONDER:  RULE OVER YOUR OWN SPIRIT 11/04/17

Precious one, when you feel like your life is out of control, it comes from the inside out.  The environment around you may look like a whirlwind, but it is the life within you that needs repair.  You are asking Me for understanding as to what I AM doing in your life.  I AM maturing you in the spiritual fruit of temperance.  This is self-control, using moderation in all things, especially your appetite for comfort from what the world offers.  I have already given you the power to say No to overdose.  Your flesh wars against your spirit.  Stand.  You have gone through many seasons of exercising great restraint, just like the parable of dieting.  You learned to say no and stick with it.  Now that you have been given liberty to enjoy life in My Spirit do not return to your old ways of bondage.  Repair your walls of faith by returning to what you know is right and moderate in My name.

Proverbs 25:28 He that has no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

Philippians 4:5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
