THE EARNEST WAR OF INTERCESSION 2/26/08
Prayer is a mystery not understood.
Oneness with Him in the priesthood.
Not sweating or striving in the fight.
But groaning passion for what’s right.
Weighing all sides in careful balance,
Counting the cost to be valiant.
Sacrifice is beyond what one sees
Through body, soul and dignity.
In that place of the great in between
Stands the one who knows what’s unseen.
It’s deeper than mere words can express
Opposite poles pulling with stress.
It’s power is not in the right words.
Force and strife remain absurd.
Thoughts and contention lay on the ground.
Hope in Him to loose the profound.
Wrestling with what does not measure up,
Trusting in God to swallow His cup...
Is to yield to Him to have His way
Piercing the darkness and the day.
A war of intercession is won
After the works of flesh is done.
Having laid them all down on the cross
Knowing life is exchanged for loss.
Heb 5:5-8 NKJV
So also Christ did not glorify Himself to become High
Priest, but it was He who said to Him: "You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You." As He also says in another
place: "You are a priest forever according to the order
of Melchizedek"; who, in the days of His flesh, when He
had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement
cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from
death, and was heard because of His godly fear, though
He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things
which He suffered.
1 Cor 1:26-29 NLT
Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you
were wise in the world's eyes, or powerful, or wealthy
when God called you. Instead, God deliberately chose
things the world considers foolish in order to shame
those who think they are wise. And he chose those who
are powerless to shame those who are powerful. God chose
things despised by the world, things counted as nothing
at all, and used them to bring to nothing what the world
considers important, so that no one can ever boast in
the presence of God.
James 5:16-17 NKJV
The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man
avails much.
