WORD TO PONDER:  THE GIFT TO UNDERSTAND  9/02/07

In a world bombarded with distraction, confusion and many voices, I have given My own the gift to understand.  In all your ways, ask Me for this gift, for in it is the well spring of life.  Understanding shall direct your paths.  Understanding shall bring you promotion.  Understanding shall give wise counsel.  Understanding will preserve you and keep you from evil.  Understanding will help you hold your peace, refrain from wrath and walk in temperance.   Understanding gives great profit with long life, riches, honor and peace.  Understanding will help you reign, decree justice and rule the earth.  Seek her as silver and search her as hidden treasure for then you shall understand the fear of the Lord.

Prov 2:2-7 NKJV

So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding ;

Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding ,

If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures;  Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright. 

Prov 2:11-12 NKJV

Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you, To deliver you from the way of evil...

Prov 3:5-6  NKJV

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Prov 3:13-19 NKJV

Happy is the man who finds wisdom,And the man who gains understanding ; For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver,And her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. 16 Length of days is in her right hand, In her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who retain her.  The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens;

Prov 4:7-9 NKJV

Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.  Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you."

Prov 8:14-16 NKJV

Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding , I have strength.   By me kings reign, And rulers decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles,

All the judges of the earth.  

Prov 9:10 NKJV

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Prov 15:31-33  NKJV

The ear that hears the rebukes of life will abide among the wise. He who disdains instruction despises his own soul, But he who heeds rebuke gets understanding. The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom, and before honor is humility.

Prov 16:16 NKJV

How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.

Understanding is a wellspring of life to him who has it.

He who is devoid of wisdom despises his neighbor, But a man of understanding holds his peace.

He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, but he who is impulsive exalts folly.
