FROM
WARFARE TO REPENTANCE TO REWARD
Changing
Our Mindsets About Circumstances
January
17, 2002
Hi Loved
Ones,
I have
had something on my heart recently and I have tried
through this post to communicate it clearly. Some posts
that I write are very easy and flow like honey. Some of
them I wrestle with and hope that by the time you see
them, that the paper is not worn thin from all the
eraser marks. (smile) And so right now…..
I am
going to try and cover all the eraser marks on this
particular post and tell you the whole post in a
nutshell! I perceive that even after so many Words
released about the need for repentance, some people are
like myself and are still misinterpreting demonic
opposition inappropriately. It has to do with a
preconceived mindset and a lack of understanding of the
season that we are in.
In April
of last year I heard the Lord talk to me about the
demonic storm we were suffering. And one of the things
He imparted to me in context was the following
scripture: "In mercy and truth atonement is provided for
iniquity; And by the fear of the LORD one departs from
evil. When a man's ways please the LORD, He makes even
his enemies to be at peace with him." (Prov 16:6-7 NKJV)
Having a mindset of a well seasoned warrior, hearing
that surprised me and I realized something must be
missing from my warfare mentality. I was about to learn
there are other ways to defeat ones enemies than what I
had thought.
Sometimes when we have been involved or trained in
warfare for a long time, we become so acclimatized to
shooting at anything that moves, that we end up shooting
when we shouldn’t. In every step of a long term battle,
there are times and seasons. Sometimes we move,
sometimes we wait, sometimes we stand and resist,
sometimes we lay low in humility. In literal war,
sometimes we are commanded to dig a fox hole and lay as
low as we can. In spiritual war, laying low is an
allegory of humility and repentance.
Last
year the Lord took me through quite a journey of
teaching me this concept and helping me understand that
I had a certain warrior mindset that was striving with
Him and it kept me from understanding the truth. It
never dawned on me that He might be using my enemies to
get my attention. My goal was only to defeat my enemies.
But He had two goals, and yes, one of those was for me
to defeat my enemies, but not the way I thought. His
other goal was even more important; He wanted to
"capture" my life and line it up with His Word. If I may
put this in stronger terms, He wanted to defeat me, for
I was my own worst enemy.
DREAM -
IF WE HAD NOT REPENTED
In the
early hours of January 21st of last year, 2001, I
received a dream: I was at the back end of an ocean
liner, looking backwards at where we had been. I saw two
sober looking angels whose faces were set like flint.
They were standing in 2 towers up over the back end of
the ship and facing forwards in the direction we were
going. I suddenly became alarmed, for I saw a huge black
wind tunnel like a destructive tornado coming from a
distance towards the ship. It was so huge that it filled
the horizon. We were in direct line with it and I
realized there was no way to escape this impending
destruction. I started yelling at the watchmen angels to
look behind them for I felt we were doomed. They were
ignoring me and keeping their post. I made such a clack,
that finally one of them looked straight at me and said,
"Yes we know about it."
At that
point, I ran to find a place of protection and noticed
there were other people hiding too. It was just moments
prior to the onslaught and so I braced for it. My spirit
knew the moment of impact and it felt like a holy hush,
as it was totally quiet. I waited as it swept through us
with no noise, no disturbance, no nothing. It was like a
hush of silence. I was totally shocked and wondered if I
had seen the black sky as a mirage, or what. At that
moment I awoke surprised and startled. I heard the Lord
immediately say it was what would have happened if we
hadn’t repented. (Jer 18:8, Jer 26:3, Jonah 3:8-10)
VISION -
DEMONIC RANKS BREAKING UP
The same
night I also saw a vision of ranks of army type warring
demons and they were departing row by row, section by
section. They had been a huge massive unit joined for a
purpose, and now they were separating and breaking up. I
heard the enemy say they were breaking up because of the
spirit of intercession that had been released. (2 Chron
7:14) This experience occurred in the dawn of the same
day that President George Bush proclaimed Jan 21, 2001 a
National Day of Prayer. (Amos 3:7)
However
in pondering the vision I realized that even though the
huge unit was breaking up, I had seen them depart in
units. They were small units as in rows or small
sections, but these were still united as though they
still had a purpose and an assignment yet to fulfill.
GOD
WEEPS WHEN HE SPANKS
Now back
to the night the Lord spoke to me about the scripture:
"In mercy and truth atonement is provided for iniquity;
And by the fear of the LORD one departs from evil. When
a man's ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies
to be at peace with him." (Prov 16:6-7 NKJV)
I had a
picture vision and saw the words, "Disconnect storm
persecutions." Then I heard Him say, "When My people
humble themselves and pray, I turn the tide. That’s all
I wanted or needed was their heart. Go weep for David."
His
phrase, "Go weep for David" is a poignant Word coming
from a dream my husband had in January 99. I posted the
dream in the Quickened Word on 2/11/99 called, "God
Weeps When He Spanks - David Come Home". This dream was
about David in the Old Testament but it was a prophetic
dream speaking about today’s David: the king, the
leader, the servant, the warrior, the prophet, the
anointed one.
WAYNE’S
DREAM: I was in a palace that looked like a palace in
Napoleon’s day. There was a great sadness throughout the
whole palace. I am standing before some kind of a booth
and there was an angel who was working a video game
controller really fast. Many other angels were standing
around him and they all had on long white robes. When
the angel was done, he handed it to the angel who was in
control of that station. That angel said, "You have 200.
David at his very best only got 15." They were speaking
of David of the Old Testament. The angel started to hand
me the controller and said, "No, I just can’t do that,
it belongs to David." This angel had been David’s
teacher and he walked off crying for David.
Another
angel came by and said, "Jesse is coming home." At that
moment I knew in my spirit that David had been wounded
in battle by a sword. I walked out on the portico and I
could see a big long fountain in the courtyard. The
whole palace belonged to David and it was filled with
many angels, all dressed in long white robes. All these
angels were dedicated to David’s service. I could see
that God had done all this for David while he was a
young man, and now he had left the palace and gone out
into the world. The angels had been waiting for David a
long time, and had nothing to do but wander around the
palace. They were all extremely grieved and at the point
of tears.
As I
looked down the long courtyard, I saw a jeep driving
into the palace grounds. Two children angels were with
the jeep. One was driving and the other was laying on
top of the hood. David was in the passenger side. As I
watched David coming down the driveway to the palace, I
knew David had been living with the Romans and partaking
of the debauchery of their world.
The jeep
stopped where all the angels were standing. David got
out and climbed on top of the short wall surrounding the
fountain. Dressed in a fool’s outfit like the court
jester, he began to talk about all the wine and the
women and the song and joys of living in the debauchery.
I could see a wistfulness in his demeanor and eyes —
that he still wanted to live that life. When he finished
talking about his longings of the world, he said, "A
sword has brought me home."
I looked
at his body and he wasn’t wounded in a physical sense.
David, with great submission and even compassion, said,
"The sword of the Spirit." At that moment, all the
angels in the courtyard raised their hands in unison to
the Lord in heaven and began worshipping God. I did the
same thing and could not see anything because I was
sobbing so much. [end of dream] (Duet 32:39, Hos 6:1-3)
VISION -
AN AX TO THE SINS OF DAVID
As I was
praying over writing this post, I saw a vision of an ax
at the bottom of a tree, then I saw the flat cut surface
of the stump of a tree, after it had fallen. I heard the
Lord say that this tree was the sin of David. He said
the sin was not only David’s affair with the pleasures
of the world, but every sin that did not line up with
His Word. I knew this was down to the nitty gritty like
sins of the tongue and also how we neglect our physical
body as the temple or tabernacle of His Holy Spirit!
Amos
9:9-11 NKJV
"For
surely I will command, and will sift the house of Israel
among all nations, as grain is sifted in a sieve; Yet
not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground. All the
sinners of My people shall die by the sword, who say,
'The calamity shall not overtake nor confront us.' "On
that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, which
has fallen down, and repair its damages; I will raise up
its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old."
SUMMARIZING THE DREAMS & VISIONS
The
intercession that has taken place was enough to break up
a very horrific, massive destruction. It did not
completely avert it, but when comparing the horizon
filled with the moving massive doom, and seeing the huge
united demonic army breaking up into smaller sections,
the intensity was certainly changed. In the first dream
and vision, what brought this change was repentance and
intercession.
2 Chron
7:14
"If My
people who are called by My name will humble themselves,
and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked
ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive
their sin and heal their land."
In the
next dream we see that David had become wounded in
battle and it was the sword of the Lord that had not
only wounded him, but brought him back to his palace,
his place of abiding kingship with the Lord and to a
waiting host of angels.
Hos
6:1-3 NKJV
"Come,
and let us return to the LORD; For He has torn, but He
will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.
After two days He will revive us; On the third day He
will raise us up, that we may live in His sight. Let us
know, let us pursue the knowledge of the LORD. His going
forth is established as the morning; He will come to us
like the rain, like the latter and former rain to the
earth."
In the
last vision we see the Lord has taken an ax to the fruit
of David’s sin. The entire tree was cut down. An ax is a
more severe cutting then a wounding with the sword. For
some, depending upon their degree of resistance to God’s
Word; their tree shall be cut down; nevertheless their
stump shall remain.
The
following scriptural application is a parable taken from
Nebuchadnezzar’s life:
"And
inasmuch as the king saw a watcher, a holy one, coming
down from heaven and saying, 'Chop down the tree and
destroy it, but leave its stump and roots in the earth,
bound with a band of iron and bronze in the tender grass
of the field; let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and
let him graze with the beasts of the field, till seven
times pass over him… And inasmuch as they gave the
command to leave the stump and roots of the tree, your
kingdom shall be assured to you, after you come to know
that Heaven rules. (Dan 4:23-24, 26 NKJV) (Job 14:7-9)
I heard
the Lord tell me more about these people who so strongly
resist that they need the ax, and it is very sobering.
For lack of space I will be very brief. Due to the
strongholds of their mind, the spirits to which they are
captive are pride, self righteousness, blindness and
finally bitterness. They raise proud arguments against
the Lord as He brings them through the kiln. But instead
of becoming better through humble repentance - they
become bitter by pointing the finger to judge others.
Like David, the Lord will bring them home, but they will
take the long way around to do so. (Rev 3:17,18)
It is
only through God’s mercy that we each are delivered from
blindness to see our own need for repentance! The Lord
opened my understanding recently to the following
scripture: "And he said, "Yes, go. But tell my people
this: `You will hear my words, but you will not
understand. You will see what I do, but you will not
perceive its meaning.' Harden the hearts of these
people. Close their ears, and shut their eyes. That way,
they will not see with their eyes, hear with their ears,
understand with their hearts, and turn to me for
healing." (Isa 6:9-10 NLT) Part of judgment is being
turned over to blindness so that we do not repent! He is
such a loving God that His heart melts when we humble
ourselves with repentance. He gives us over to blindness
and strongholds of the mind as a part of judgment! Oh
Lord we pray that You open our eyes and break our
mindsets to bring us to quick repentance. (2 Cor 10:5)
MAKING
DECISIONS
When
coming into difficult circumstances that appear like an
enemy attack we need to learn to discern between 5
choices.
1.) Is
this warfare about opposing resistance, delay, and/or a
wearing down tactic from the enemy … because I am in the
right path and doing the will of the Lord? If so, I am
commissioned to stand and resist and overcome. This
produces growing authority and spiritual muscles. (Eph
6:10-18)
2.) Did
I open a door to demonic distraction, intimidation and
abuse … because I have become presumptuous in my warring
and thus lost focus on the Lord? If so, then I am
commissioned to pursue the Lord and turn my back on the
enemy. (Matt 16:23)
3.) Is
this a chastisement, a spanking, a buffeting or even a
judgment from the Lord Who is using my enemies … because
I am not in the right path in lining up with God’s Word?
If so, then I am commissioned to repent, humble myself
and become obedient. This produces rightful living and
my sanctification. (Heb 12:11)
4.) Is
this the result from a wounding that occurred through
any one of the above? If so, then I am commissioned to
turn to the Lord and afterwards I am to strengthen my
brethren. (Lu 22:31,32)
5.)
Understanding the season is very helpful in making these
appropriate decisions. Right now the body of Christ is
in a season of #3: humility, repentance and obedience.
After we do this, the Lord is moving us into #4,
recovering from wounds.
THE
REWARD
By
fearing the Lord through acknowledging He is Boss over
all wars, then lining up with His Word, we are rewarded.
"And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil. When
a man's ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies
to be at peace with him." (Prov 16:7 NKJV) As we line up
with His ways and His Word, we please Him and then we
reap the results from both the Lord and our enemies.
The two
phrases, "He makes" and "be at peace" is actually one
Hebrew word (Strongs 7999) translated 116 times in the
OT. This word is translated as these phrases in the KJV:
make amends, (make an) end, finish, full, give again,
make good, (re-) pay (again), (make) (to) (be at) peace
(-able), that is perfect, perform, (make) prosper
(-ous), recompense, render, requite, make restitution,
restore, reward, X surely.
In this
Hebrew word, there is actually no He/he in the original,
rather it just refers to the result, not the one who
gives the result. In various context it refers to
different subjects as the Lord, the enemy, the
unrighteous or the righteous. Here are some of them to
give you an idea: Ex 21:34: shall make it good / Ex
22:1: shall restore / Ex 22:3: make full restitution /
Ex 22:7: let him pay / Lev 5:16: make amends / Deut
32:41: will reward / Josh 11:19: made peace / Ruth 2:12:
recompense thy work / 1 Sam 24:19: reward thee. Of all
the 116, here is my favorite!!!!
Joel
2:25 KJV
And I
will RESTORE to you the years that the locust hath
eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the
palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
May the
Lord help us to change our mindsets, be quick to repent
and let us pray that He will quickly restore our wounds
in Jesus Name.
Lovingly,
Sandy
