INTERCESSION THROUGH HIS OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS

6/13/24 INTERCESSION THROUGH HIS OWN RIGHTEOUSNESS

Today I turned to my yellow disk memorial journal and opened to this scripture: Isaiah 59:16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.

I pondered about standing in the gap as holy intercessors. That scripture was an immediate reminder that we all fail as humans, it is not through our own righteousness that we accomplish anything. It is faith in Him and HIS righteousness. He could not find an intercessor holy and righteous enough to stand in the gap and so by His OWN righteousness and His OWN arm He brought forth deliverance and this sustained Him and helped Him lean and rest.

SUSTAINED HIM

סָמַךְ çâmak, saw-mak’

a primitive root; to prop (literally or figuratively); reflexively, to lean upon or take hold of (in a favorable or unfavorable sense):—bear up, establish, (up-) hold, lay, lean, lie hard, put, rest self, set self, stand fast, stay (self), sustain.

Job 15:15 Behold, he puts no trust in his holy ones; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.

THE FATHER’S EMOTIONAL TURMOIL BETWEEN 2 POLES

I am so comforted by His loving kindness and mercy over our failings! I wonder about that word “sustained.” I know there is a divine tension in the depths of the Father’s emotions between His love for people and His wrath towards evil. To experience having to live between 2 such intense emotions must be very hard for Him. The love FOR His children, and their repeated love towards Him must be such a balm in regards to seeing and knowing of all evil that soils His goodness. Our reciprocal love is a resting place for Him.

Psalm 5:4 For you are not a God that has pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with you.

Psalm 34:15-16 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. 16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

Psalm 10:1 Why stand you afar off, O LORD? why hide you yourself in times of trouble?

God knows all, sees all but there are suggestions in scripture that He does at times look away to avoid evil or perhaps focus on evil.

Habakkuk 1:13 You are of purer eyes than to behold evil, and can not look on iniquity: why do you look upon them that deal treacherously, and hold your tongue when the wicked devours the man that is more righteous than he?

1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Yes He looks away because He is holy. And yes evil grieves Him.

Genesis 6:6-7 And the LORD was sorry that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. 7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for I am sorry that I have made them.

But perhaps He looks away to sooth His own intense emotions. Consider how the Father felt on the day that His beloved Son, Whom He loved above all… when He gave His Son as a sacrifice to bridge the gap between all that is evil and all that is good. Was that day not the most extreme climax of emotions for the Father? To see His beloved Son beaten, battered and bruised… spilling His life blood, and slimed by demons, taunted and defiled all for the sake of LOVE?

Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?

JESUS OUR INTERCESSOR AND SACRIFICE

Perhaps Jesus’ sacrifice was much deeper than we know. Perhaps Jesus knew the Father’s pain from suffering eternity past over evil and all that it had done to defile His goodness. Perhaps Jesus understood the Father’s own pain-filled emotions of striving with men over their propensity towards evil. Perhaps because Jesus really knew the Father’s pain this helped Jesus swallow the cup of suffering on behalf of the Father’s will, on behalf of the Father’s need for a Deliverer for mankind.

Isaiah 53:10-12 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he has put him to grief: when you shall make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his offspring, he shall prolong his days, and the will of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. 11 He shall see the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he has poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

11/03/04 JESUS BORE MY PAIN

VISION: I was crouching at the stump of the tree that was cut down to make the cross of Jesus. I looked over and saw Him laying on the ground on the wooden cross, before they had nailed His hand. I watched them take the mallet hammer and pound the nail into His palm. It was very painful to see this. I knew that He was on the cross in my stead.

HEARD: Your need for a friend, I bore that weight. Bore your pain. Every living soul He took upon Himself. My daughter I bore your shame. I know how it feels to get wounded. Thoroughly alone, abandonment. I bore that too. The need to belong, that too. I did this so you may heal. Wound, too deep to understand. The weight of your wait. I carried you. All the way down through history, I saw your face. All alone. I took your place.

A Friend, I’m still here, I never left you. I am your Friend. You’ve got Me. All of Me. I wholly and freely give Myself to you. I am here 24/7 abiding with you. I want to hear what you have to say.

TARRYING WITH THE LORD

On my walk I told Him how sorry I was that we as mankind had been such a disappointment to Him. Over and over throughout history we have committed and promised and then failed and let Him down. He has suffered long over us due to His love for us as we continually go astray from being with Him.

  • Only through HIS righteousness can I stand in the gap.
  • I choose to try because it gives Him pleasure.
  • I choose to remain in this place because I love Him.

As I pondered this, I heard Him say, Precious child, don’t stop. You have met Me.
