God Has Nicknames
GOD HAS NICKNAMES!
(Text Version)
The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. (Prov 18:10)
Did you know that God has many names? This is like us where we have our formal name and then we sometimes have a nickname given to us by our loved ones. Nicknames are a loving way of saying someone is cherished and special. God has named many of His angels with a portion of His name inside their name. For instance the Hebrew word EL means God. His arch angels MichaEL and GabriEL have His name tucked inside their own.
The first thing we do when we meet someone is learn their name. A name is a part of a person’s identity that says they are unique and special. In the Bible, the meaning of names tell something about the person like their personality or even their purpose and destiny. Angels and cities in the Bible also have names and they can refer to some type of description that connects with their name.
And so it is when we meet God. He has different nicknames to describe certain parts of Who He is. Here is a small list of His wonderful Names. I love to honor Him by declaring Who He is! Knowing His names is like cherishing a loved one!
God has many more names! No matter what you need, God is always there with you. If you call upon His name, He will help you! God is on your side!
