God is our Loving Father
[Text Version]
GOD IS OUR LOVING ABBA FATHER
He is our loving Father Who lives in heaven. His passion is to FILL His house with many children. That is why He told Adam to be fruitful and multiply. As His children, we were created in the image of God, just like Him.
Gen 1:26-28 NKJV
Then God said,” Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them,” Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Because He is our faithful Creator, that means we are totally dependent upon Him for all things. Everything that exists is within Him. Everything was created for Him.
Col 1:15-18 NKJV
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
1 Peter 4:19 NKJV
Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.
Rom 11:36 NKJV
For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
God is the Father of the “God Family.” His family starts with Jesus Christ, His Son and also the Holy Spirit. His family is commonly known as the trinity, however the term is not in the Bible. The three of them are united as One. Jesus said that if we have seen Him, we have seen God because Jesus was in His image. We can know all about the Father by reading about Jesus in the Gospels.
John 14:7-11 NKJV
“If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.” 8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father ; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father ‘? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.
Matt 28:18-20 NKJV
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Matt 3:16-17 NKJV
When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Eph 2:18 NKJV
For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
1 John 5:7 NKJV
For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.
The heavenly Father sent His only Son Jesus to our world to die for our sins so that we could come live with Him in Heaven and be adopted into His family with them. Jesus’ willingness to lay down His life in death paved a way for His Father to receive many children just like Him. When we believe that Jesus died for us, we become God’s children and will live with Him for eternity.
John 3:15-17 That whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Sometimes when I talk to Him, I call Him Daddy. Sometimes I call Him Papa. And sometimes I call Him Abba. I know that He earnestly wants and desires me to be with Him. And I know that He feels the same way about you. There is nothing more precious than to be adopted as His children. He gathers us under His wing like a Mother hen covering her chicklets.
Luke 10:21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank you, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hid these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in your sight.
How tender is His love for us!
He sees our smudges and chocolate fingers and kisses each one with joy.
APPLICATION: Have you been adopted into God’s family? He earnestly desire you to be His child. Consider accepting that His Son, Jesus Christ died for your sins so that you can be adopted by His Father and live with them forever and ever. Amen.
