The Whole Orchard
THE WHOLE ORCHARD
(Text Version) One day as I was on my prayer walk, I looked down and there was a small empty peanut shell. It was placed on a rock. It was really quickened to me as a Word from the Lord. I thought of the many Words the Lord has given me about peanuts, His small nuggets of encouraging Words that are so tasty. As I came to the end of the road, there was a small private nut orchard. I saw a little squirrel and he was gathering nuts. That is what I have been doing with the journals for 34 years, one nut at a time. As I watched him, I saw no other squirrels. I thought, he is only one squirrel and he has an entire orchard to himself!! This made me break out and laugh out loud! Ps 119:103 NKJV How sweet are Your words to my taste, Sweeter than honey to my mouth! Squirrels are a wonderful parable of preparing for cold times. In order to prepare for winter, squirrels gather food and bury it. They even gain weight before winter, so that it helps keep them warm and able to survive cold conditions. They are so good at finding food, they can smell it even buried under a foot of snow. I am reminded that when I hear from the Lord about something, I record it in my journal. On rainy days or cold times when I haven’t heard from Him, I can go dig up a Word and enjoy a feast! His Words are comforting, reassuring, strengthening and helpful! His Words answer a prayer, give us wisdom and guidance and help us prepare for what is coming. As years pass by, the more we journal, the more we realize He has given us an entire orchard of wonderful provision from heaven!!
