Up, Up, UP
[TEXT VERSION:] UP AND “AT EM” I taught our grandson to use a small plastic stepstool to climb into his chairs, whether it be at the table or into his car seat in the car, because I can’t lift him. He is a tad over one year older than his little sister who has silently been watching him all this time. She has now learned how to walk. Today, she saw her brother on top of Grammy’s bed and she started jabbering syllables a mile a minute as she was running down the hall as fast as she could. I barely got out the door to see what she was up to. She came running back with the little blue stepstool! She stopped right in front of my bed and put the stepstool on top of the mattress and then lifted her leg as far as she could and just couldn’t get it to the stool… It was SO darling to see her do this! It only took a couple of seconds and she figured it out and put the stool down onto the floor instead of the bed and stepped up. I laughed with delight at her discovery. Later, she wanted a snack and so I put the stool down in front of her high chair. She knows if she at least tries, Grammy will put her hand underneath her bottom to stabilize her. I don’t push or pull her up, she does all the work, but my hand is there for her to rest or recollect herself to get all the way to the top. As I was thinking how precious her stepstool experience was, the Lord gave me a vision where I saw a picture of my hand steadying her climb and I realized the Lord was speaking to me through this parable! Sometimes we want things in life that are too big for us to reach until we grow up more. It might be a a desire to draw or sing really good. God wants us to do our best and ask Him for help. He will put His hand underneath us and keep us from failing while we reach up to our special goals. |
