Warning About Movies

USING MOVIES AND TELEVISION IN MINISTRY

Don’t feed your mind with the following carnal activities in television.  Remember that friendship with the world is enmity with God.  When you feed your mind with carnal things of the flesh, it produces death and is in opposition and hatred against God.

James 4:4 You adulterers and adulteresses, know you not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Romans 8:5-9 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But you are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Using movies for examples of God speaking is a shady area that is not recommended unless the movie is fiction, a true life story where the movie represents the goodness of God and does not promote unscriptural things in sexual innuendos, violence, witchcraft, filthy communicating, jesting, etc.  Sometimes a true life story is about overcoming those things, so try to be perceptive in how much time and focus is on what is being overcome vs the purpose of the movie.

If you really want purity in your Words, it is best to stay away from TV and movies unless they stay away from the following negative behaviors.  Movies and TV can defile your eye and ear gates and cause your visions and receptivity to the Lord to be deluded and impure.  There are good “how to” shows and documentaries that are educational and helpful that are not carnal without defiling your conscience and those who are listening to you.

When you are in ministry you are accountable to teach others how to be obedient to God’s Word and not be a stumbling block to them, but rather point the way to walking in holiness.

This is a list of some of the things scripture speaks against.
