HOW TO REMAIN SALTY

9/14/25 HOW TO REMAIN SALTY

This morning I had chicken soup for breakfast. Yesterday I had stomach distress and lost a lot of electrolytes and felt it this morning when I woke. So chicken soup to the rescue. I pondered how important salt was to our daily balance. Then to my surprise when I opened my Bible to read, it turned to the following verse!

Mark 9:49-50 For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. 50 Salt is good: but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.

I wondered what the Lord was saying and considered that the word fire in context to the verses above it, was about the fires of hell. I searched and did find that we are also baptized with the Holy Ghost and fire. Scripture does say we go through the fiery trials that test us while on earth. So what does that have to do with salt? Jesus told us that we are the salt of the earth.

1 Peter 4:12-13 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to test you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, since you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, you may be glad also with exceeding joy.

Matthew 5:13 You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost its savor, how shall it be salted? it is thereafter good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Salt is all about meat preservation when going through the fire. When salt is added to meat, it inhibits the growth of bacteria and is a way to preserve meat from decay. Rubbing salt on meat makes it more tender and flavorful. Another option is soaking meat in salt for a day before it cooks, thus making it retain its moisture during cooking.

Being the salt of the earth is also about being salty so that those who sup the meat the Lord gives us will become thirsty for the Lord. The Lord is saying that being salty is important! I wondered how does one lose their salt??? I thought about Him saying that those who are no longer salty will be trodden under foot. I thought of the great tribulation where the earth shall be trodden under foot of men. (Luke 21:24)

SALT PRESERVES US. Obviously no one wants to lose their salt and I wondered how does one lose their saltiness? I was utterly shocked at the answer!

The word comes from a root meaning to be silent and close the mouth!

It is the devil’s desire that we lose our saltiness and become silent. We must never become silent and stop sharing the goodness of God in a fallen world. We must never stop speaking up for the truth. It is very important that we not allow censorship, intimidation and persecution to shut our mouths. However as the clash between light and dark become more prominent in today’s world, we must wisely learn to speak when God says speak. And we must learn to be silent when He says to withhold. I am reminded of Jesus’ silence when He was accused in court. (Matthew 26:62-63 ) There is a time to keep silent and a time to speak. But we must never become silent from having lost our salt.

Ecclesiastes 3:7 A time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

Matthew 5:13 You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost its savor, how shall it be salted? it is thereafter good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

WORD TO PONDER: AN AVALANCHE OF
SALT12/20/03

The demonic world is screaming as they witness the eruption of an avalanche of salt. This is not fire and brimstone as it sounds. Rather, this is the fiery eruption of generations of prayers planted in the ground, like coals smoldering beneath the surface. The cup is full and about to spew. Fueled by such a wealth of sacrifice, a compassionate army of salt shall tumble forth upon the broken. They shall cascade like a landslide upon the demonic world and upon those who are imprisoned by such. The demonic world will flee by merely seeing the approach of this great avalanche of salt. Erupt, spew and pour forth…. Go intercessors!

Mt5:13NKJV

“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

Isa61:1-3NKJV

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”
