8/17/26 WHEN TELLING YOUR STORY, NO NEED TO SHARE ALL THE DETAILS

This month the Lord spoke me through the following parables in watercolor. The message is when we share our life story with others, there is no need to share all the nitty gritty details. Furthermore it is wiser not to: some get distracted by too many details and others judge what is holy.

Luk 10:41-42 ESV But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

Matthew 7:6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and tear you.

HEARD: For those who want to dig deeper. Tiny pieces.  Some is for your eyes only.

Last month the Lord mentioned a lesson of not giving what is holy to those who would trample it down, and then also turn and devour you too. Sometimes the most beautiful pearls He gives us are only meant for us alone.

Often those hidden and secret things become the most meaningful because they are birthed out the pain and agony of our closet time with the Lord when we pour out our hearts with tears and groans. He will meet us there and reach us in deep places with healing touches that are very personal.

8/10/26 UNDER PAINTINGS

Underlayer. I will show you how. Dig deep. Invite you to dinner. The oil of the anointing.

PARABLE: THE FIRST LAYER NOT OBVIOUS TO THE MESSAGE

When He said “underlayer” that is related to painting watercolor in layers. I enjoy watching Sarah Burns paint with gouache. She paints a crazy, contrasting underlayer color of paint before she paints her actual scene. Like for instance the other day she painted bright pink. Then the scene she painted over that were lavenders, browns and greens. When she scuffled for a dry brush, it showed tiny specks of pink showing through on the rocks, etc. I realized they were tiny dots of brightness not seen when visualizing the painting as a whole. It is only when you look closer at the tooth of the paper that you can see the pink showing through in areas. It really does improve the painting with visual interest.

8/13/26 CONFIRMATION: My favorite FB watercolor teacher (Heinrich) posted today about creating visual interest through hiding some of the story. It was profound when comparing it to how God speaks and how I sometimes condense things. I need more practice doing this in my writing.

QUOTES HEINRICH: HIDE SOME OF THE STORY

• Give the viewer enough information to recognize the subject—but leave quieter areas for their imagination to complete.
• Keep focal point clear and detailed.
• Let edges disappear into mist, shadow, light or the background wash.

APPLICATION: These 2 watercolor parables meant more to me than just painting lessons. I see that the Lord often paints things in our lives that is below the surface of what shows on the outside. Some of those layers are very important foundations but not necessarily supposed to be viewed to the public eye.  This is good wisdom when we are learning how to share our life story.  I need to continually remember how to keep His main message, the main message!

I saw a post-it note tacked to a bulletin board. It said, “Instructions” on it. Main street. Let the main thing be the main thing.
