BUILDING BRIDGES THROUGH PROPHESY
QUESTION: Whose language does God speak in when it comes to prophesying?
Does He speak the prophetic language or the language of the people?
ANSWER: The whole idea of language is to build a bridge…
He uses common denominators to connect His thoughts with ours and then we are supposed to be a bridge to the next person. When a person prophesy’s it is being that part of the bridge that people drive on. However when we share the raw rhema it is like showing all the infrastructure of the bridge surrounding it. It allows a person to take special note of how the bridge is built.
In scripture God finds terminology that is common to both people in order to get the right thought across. Some prophesies are very clear and blunt and some are in parables, but in the cases of parables, He gives the understanding. It depends upon the condition of the listening ears.
There are so many times we see only dimly and when we share what we saw to the person, it has SO much more meaning and application than we ever thought. And with their input, we understand how if we had just prophesied it in a prophesy, how much it would have been watered down.
And on the other side of the fence it can really boomerang if the person shares the raw rhema and the other person sees a total different negative application.
Within a more mature environment, the prophetic knows how to withhold strong meat. Like if they see something negative they might not say that part, but build a bridge in a way to get the point across in a positive way that is comforting and helpful, yet still identifying the problem. When ministering, we need to pray over the level of strong meat that we give as a gift. What it all comes down to is whether or not people are equally yoked in maturity. We don’t give strong meat to babes and if we do, they spit it out.
The whole purpose of prophesying is building a bridge of understanding between the Lord and a person’s need to be comforted, built up in their faith and invited to cross that bridge to draw near to Him. The language needs to be shared in a simple way within an environment of faith, hope and love.
Matt 13:10-17
And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?” 11 He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. 12 For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. 13 Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. 14 And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says:
‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, And seeing you will see and not perceive; 15 For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.’
16 But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear; 17 for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.
