The Journey to 77777
MATURITY AND COMPLETION: THE JOURNEY TO 77777
This summer our son graduates from college and gets married. He has completed the 1st race in his life, and we completed it with him. After getting our yard ready for the festivities, Wayne and I took a car trip up the river. Along the way we pulled in to take some photos of a lovely golf course nestled in the mountains. Wayne said, “77707” as he read our speedometer. It was almost five sevens in a row! 7 is the number of completion and 5 means grace. I said that we were completing the course with great grace. When I said the word “course” I realized we were driving on a golf “course!”
I wanted to take a picture of the speedometer when it reached 77777, because I felt it was very quickened and significant. We drove about 40 more minutes up to a natural hot springs and Wayne it would be 50 more miles before the speedometer reached 77777. At that moment, my eye glanced at the mileage road marker beside the road and it said “Milepost 49.” We realized when we reached our city limits, that the speedometer would be 77777 and our house was 7 miles past that. But by the time we were about 2 miles from home, the speedometer said 77757. We held our breath all the way home. The speedometer literally turned to 77777 just as we pulled into our driveway!!!! The chances of that happening were a total miracle. Wayne took the camera and took the picture in our very own driveway.
I remember hearing an allegory about a person who spent his whole life’s resources: time, money and energy, to search for a buried treasure. When he arrived home years later, depleted, exhausted and hopeless, he found it had been buried in his own back yard. The Lord has given you the treasure of allegories through numbers in your own back yard . . . Enjoy digging.
