Interpretation Tips on Band Instruments
TIPS ON INTERPRETATIONS OF BAND INSTRUMENTS Sometimes the Lord will give us rhema about band instruments. I spent 1/3rd of my life in bands, (concert, marching, dance, symphonic and worship) so I am very familiar with all the instruments and God has spoken to me in that language. There are a few keys to understanding the symbolism of instruments.
The shorter instruments tend to play faster, carry the main melody and are higher pitched. They play more notes and move at a faster pace.
The longer instruments tend to play slower, carry the foundation notes and backup notes and are lower pitched. They play less notes and move at a slower pace.
These lower toned instruments usually play the main notes of the key and the 1st note of each chord, which provides a platform for the shorter instruments to go all over the place and then return home to the main chord on each beat.
In my family you could liken it to my toddler grandchildren who play and talk so fast I cant keep up with them. When they visit, my entire life revolves around them. What they are saying, doing, needing. All of the conversation is about them and they are the focus.
Grammy plays much slower, and is the backup foundation level to everything that the kids are doing. She fills in and tries to stay on pace. She also reinforces the key notes to help the kids stay on target on what they are doing.
You will find this kind of scene inside the church, with different maturity levels, gifts and roles people play in God’s family.
As an example in a band, the flute is the shorter, higher pitched, melody carrying instrument. The bassoon is the longer, lower pitched foundation instrument. The flute and bassoon are both wind instruments so there is not a lot of difference in when they play their notes because the woodwind sections tend to play at the same time. (Perhaps wind instruments represent prayer/ teaching type gifts or calling).
However the reed instruments within the wind instruments also vibrate when breath passes through the reeds. The fact that the bassoon has 2 reeds, means double portion vibration, which reminds me of trembling at His Word. To me trembling at His Word represents a portion of the fear of God.

For all those things My hand has made, And all those things exist,” Says the Lord. “But on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, And who trembles at My word.
Ps 114:7-8 Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, At the presence of the God of Jacob, 8 Who turned the rock into a pool of water, The flint into a fountain of waters.
Ps 96:9 Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness! Tremble before Him, all the earth.

DREAM: SINGING IN THE SPIRIT IN UNITY, BUT DIFFERENT RHYTHMS 8/15/96
Anna & I were in a meeting. She was along one wall, I was along the opposite wall facing her. She began to sing in the Spirit a beautiful and unusual foreign song in tongues. After a few lines, I felt led to sing along with her in alto. My language was another one, and I had a syncopated beat that fit perfectly with her long drawn out notes and smooth melody. I started to clap my hands in rhythm, going twice as fast to my own syncopated beat, that still fit perfectly with Anna’s song going twice as slow. Then 2 more people joined. The harmony was lovely. I knew shortly the whole meeting would join in.
WORD TO PONDER: LINED UP WITH MY TIME TABLE 8/15/96 Some of My loved ones think life goes by too fast, and some of them think it is too slow. Some have been sweating and striving to get somewhere in My kingdom. I want them to slow down and walk in peace.
I have you each on a different path not only in what you hear, but also in your walk with Me. And yet, I have all of you in perfect sync with one another and going the pace I ordained for you. This is true with your life in Me, your ministries and your relationships.
You are lined up perfectly in My time table, and are moving forward towards My goal in one massive unit. You are a great company of people going forth in parallel movement. You shall go forth as My banner. Let My plan unfold naturally in your life.
