WHEN TESTED TO PROVE WHAT IS IN OUR HEART
7/10/25 WHEN TESTED TO PROVE WHAT IS IN OUR HEART
Today when I turned with anointed hands to the following scripture, taking note that it was also repeated in the OT, I noticed that in both instances they were in connection to being tested.
Luke 4:4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. [Jesus was being tested 40 days by the devil]
Deuteronomy 8:2-3 And you shall remember all the way which the LORD your God led you these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you, and to test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not. 3 And he humbled you, and allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you knew not, neither did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man does not live by bread only, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD does man live.

I was reminded the Lord Himself told us to pray that we NOT be given over to such testing, but be delivered from it.
Matthew 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
I looked up all the NT verses that use that Greek word TEST and then prayed:
PRAYER:
Lord we do understand when we are tested that You are working patience and the full maturity within us where the gold of Your glory will be revealed. You also said if we keep Your Word of patience, we will also be kept from the testing that comes upon the whole world.
Lord You told us to pray that we NOT be given over to temptation/ the proving of our faith. Help us to rise and pray and not fall away. You have promised that we would not be tested above what we are able, but You would also make a way for escape so that we may bear up. Your promise is to deliver the godly out of such testing. Help us to be Your godly ones, keeping Your Word and growing strong roots in You, that we not be given over to such testing in Jesus Name, amen.
Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh [is] weak.
Luke 8:13 They on the rock [are they], which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.
Luke 22:46 And said unto them, Why sleep you? rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation.
1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God [is] faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear [it].
James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing [this], that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have [her] perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
1 Peter 1:6-7 In which you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you are in heaviness through manifold trials: 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
1 Peter 4:12-13 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
Revelation 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
