The following 2 questions are here to help you ponder with the Holy Spirit and also the scriptures. I came up with 5 possible answers for question one and 2 possible answers for question two. In asking these questions, I do not expect you to “produce” the answers that I have prepared to share with you. The purpose is not for you to search my mind, but instead, to search the Holy Spirit’s heart as to what the Lord would say to you about these things. When you respond, always try to connect what you say with scripture.

How did I know it was an angel?

Many have seen angels in their dreams without realizing it. That is because ministering angels look like humans. The main difference is that their countenance is loving, peaceful and kind. The angel was smiling and eager to help. The role of angels is to be there to help us get to our destination in the Lord. They are here on earth to minister to us and usually appear very friendly and helpful.

Heb 13:2 NLT

Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!

Heb 1:14 AMP

Are not the angels all ministering spirits (servants) sent out in the service [of God for the assistance] of those who are to inherit salvation?

QUESTION ONE: Why was the angel pantomiming?

1. The word “sign” language is quickened to me. Pantomiming is a series of gestures or sign language. I feel this action points to the idea that we are now living in a time when God will be speaking through signs and wonders.

Acts 14:3 NKJV

Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

2. Because sometimes the details of our spiritual experiences can also represent our level of intimacy with the Lord. This angel was far away, not up front, close, personal. Not eye to eye. He was not speaking face to face. However I was not abandoned, he was there!

The distance of the angel represented how I was feeling in my relationship with the Lord. I was swamped in work and although I was constantly praying for help in the software, and receiving it, and I was also continuing to hear and see at night, I was not receiving anything out of it because I was not spending any sit down time with Him during the day. I was just pressing through straight uphill until I got the breakthrough.

3. Because of the level of receptivity, or level of faith.

Matt 13:58 NKJV

Now He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

There has been a lot of internet persecution of the prophetic when they talk about the ministry of angels. Angels are allowed to minister to the degree we allow them into our lives. We need to be grateful for every kind of help and helper God sends our way.

Neither do we worship angels, we worship the Lord and cling to the Lord for His help. Paul also warned us of keeping the gospel of Jesus Christ unchanged.

Col 2:17-19

Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels , intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, and not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished and knit together by joints and ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God.

Gal 1:6-9 NLT

I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who in his love and mercy called you to share the eternal life he gives through Christ. You are already following a different way 7 that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who twist and change the truth concerning Christ. 8 Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including myself, who preaches any other message than the one we told you about. Even if an angel comes from heaven and preaches any other message, let him be forever cursed. 9 I will say it again: If anyone preaches any other gospel than the one you welcomed, let God’s curse fall upon that person.

Many years ago I went through a season where I was first hearing angels and I worried about it, and started to ignore and turn this gift off. I became very sifted in the whole thing. Finally I had a dream where I was driving around a corner and slid over to the side of the road backwards. A team of angels came to help get my car back on the road again. They came to my window, and started pantomiming that they were there to help me. They were so kind and friendly to me in their faces and gestures. But they did not say a thing! In the dream I knew exactly why they were not speaking, because I had turned them away. And yet there was not one look of disapproval or judgment; only God’s love and pleasure to serve and help me get going again.

Along the same lines, there are some that do not believe there are female looking angels. Above all, we do not generate new doctrines from spiritual experiences without scripture backing. The following is scriptural proof that there are women looking angels, even with wings:

Zech 5:9-11 NKJV
Then I raised my eyes and looked, and there were two women, coming with the wind in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between earth and heaven. So I said to the angel who talked with me, “Where are they carrying the basket?” And he said to me, “To build a house for it in the land of Shinar; when it is ready, the basket will be set there on its base.”

For in the resurrected state neither do [men] marry nor are [women] given in marriage, but they are like the angels in heaven.

4. Because sometimes angels are used as signs to point the way.

Isa 30:20-21 NKJV

Yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, But your eyes shall see your teachers . Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left. What did the environment of the angel communicate?

Before I spoke, he was anticipating my need by popping his head around the corner when I turned back to ask to be reassured. I think the detail that he was at a corner where the 2 school hallways met, was relevant to the above scripture, that in these last days God will manifest angelic and human helpers more and more… especially when we are at a crossroads and need help in making the turn in the right direction.

5. God was not mad at me. Angels are from the spirit world and do not usually communicate with sound in the voice, it is usually via the Spirit, like to the mind in the same way conversations take place in dreams. However the following possibility also came to me: In the natural or in the “flesh” it would have required a normal person to raise their voice in order to communicate that distance. The Lord brought this scripture into remembrance:

Isa 42:4 NKJV

“Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles. 2 He will not cry out, nor raise His voice ,Nor cause His voice to be heard in the street. 3 A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth. 4 He will not fail nor be discouraged, Till He has established justice in the earth; And the coastlands shall wait for His law.”

To me it was a reminder that God doesn’t yell at me and He was not mad at me. I had spent 6-8 weeks away from catching up on typing my rhema and really spending priority time with Him. I was climbing straight up hill in the learning curve, crying out to Him day and night for His help, and was amazed to notice His supernatural help the whole way through. It was a wonderful comfort to my soul and faith.

However I was feeling very guilty that I was not spending my normal time with Him in the mornings. I knew I had a window of time to get it done, before my rhema ran out that was Pending on line, and so I knew I had to cover a lot of territory in short amount of time. Towards the end, the condemnation I was trying to overcome with staying away was increasing, and my soul was also very weary. I missed our time together terribly and started really whining to hear Him. I became so sifted with the whole process I actually wondered if I was going to lose my watchman’s position! By that time I knew I had to STOP.

This dream was such an amazing, loving balm to my soul. That angel’s smile of encouragement was so loving, there was simply not one ounce of condemnation or correction at all. It was a good parable that the distance between us was definitely a “sign” to my relationship with the Lord at the time. But even though I could not see the Lord, He was readily there the moment I called.

REVELATION: I think the following scripture is a wonderful key because we have now entered a time on the earth when He will be bringing forth His justice upon the earth. It will be a fearful and awe-filled time to be alive upon the earth, where we will each learn the fear of the Lord and His Word. And yet His mercy to protect a flower from getting crushed is tender and humble as He bends down low to lift us up.

QUESTION TWO: Why was the restaurant downstairs instead of the school level?

Going to lower places to me represents humbling oneself. To ask, seek, search, knock, beg, etc all represent admitting a need, and humbling oneself to request help. To humble oneself is the opposite of an independent spirit who can do it without help.

Rev 3:17-20 NKJV

Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing ‘ — and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked — 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Lower or basement levels can represent foundations and also servant hood.

1 Cor 3:11 NKJV

For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Matt 23:11-12 NKJV

But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

Luke 14:7-11 NKJV

So He told a parable to those who were invited, when He noted how they chose the best places, saying to them: 8 “When you are invited by anyone to a wedding feast, do not sit down in the best place, lest one more honorable than you be invited by him; 9 and he who invited you and him come and say to you, ‘Give place to this man,’ and then you begin with shame to take the lowest place. 10 But when you are invited, go and sit down in the lowest place, so that when he who invited you comes he may say to you, ‘Friend, go up higher.’ Then you will have glory in the presence of those who sit at the table with you. 11 For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

The phrase “a basement” is a word pun for abasement.

WHY WAS THE ANGEL PANTOMIMING?

The angel was sent as a guide and to instruct, he gave signs and she was to interpret what those signs meant.

God does not always speak, He sometimes gives signs and we are to interpret those signs to find the heart and mind of God and to know what He is speaking to us at that time.

My first reaction was the silence, without words, which means a conversation is private and between the one who is pantomiming and the one who is receiving the gestures from and angel.

Our military uses hand gestures to get a secret message to each other when in combat in order to keep the enemy from hearing the voices. So, to me, the angel pantomiming would mean secret directions.

I think the angel was pantomiming to encourage her to grow and develop and use her senses instead of having everything ready made.

To show that God was not angry that we are so busy & He has a sense of humor.

Also, pantomiming lures us into the mystery to understand what he is saying, just as God woos us with a parable or mystery to intrigue us.

The steepness of the stairs & your comment on “I don’t know if I can do that” refers to the place we must meet him out of our comfort zone, not in our own strength, but a place of total humility.

Why: The angel in the dream was pantomiming which confirmed/tied together the “Divine Signs “signals” in 10/21/08 message from the Lord. The angel was making gestures to indicate that this was what the Lord was doing in trying get your attention. The steps to the right place to eat.

Sometimes the Lord speaks to not in just a spoken word that we must still be sensitive to be able to hear. Thus the angel was pantomiming the directions. Would we understand through this kind of direction?

Song of Solomon 3:1-4
On my bed night after night I sought him whom my soul loves; I sought him but did not find him. I must arise now and go….I must seek him whom my soul loves. The watchmen who make the rounds in the city found me. Scarcely had I left them when I found him whom my soul loves.

[Perhaps] the angel was a watchman. The verse doesn’t say there were words exchanged…..i.e. the watchman silent. The pantomime would be help offered but without the distraction of words. The quest was unbroken.

We have to be open to use all of our senses in hearing God’s voice. Never forgetting that Jesus spoke in parables showed people His love thru signs and wonders. If we ignore signs or the use of all of our senses we will miss what God is trying to show us. Just think if the 3 wise men had ignored the star what they would have missed

I think the angel was pantomiming possibly as a way to get your attention. Typically if you ask someone something, they will tell you verbally as well as gesture, and as pantomiming is different, it would capture my attention at any rate! Also, it may refer to the many ways that God speaks to us that are not perfectly clear at first glance, just as when you looked to where the angel was telling you, his gestures made more sense to you. He was also quick to reassure you of the appropriate direction to go when you looked back to question him.

I think that the angel was not using words because God is expanding our understanding of how He speaks–by pantomime, you were forced to pay attention with your eyes to what the Lord is saying/directing you.

(Jesus did those things that He saw the Father doing. He’s teaching us to see as well as hear.

I believe the angel was pantomiming in order to get our attention and also to show the way rather than speaking it is often more powerful to be a demonstration and example.

I think the angel was pantomiming for emphasis. Gestures are more profound than words and anyone can hear words but only those who pay attention to the one communicating are going to get the message when actual words are not used. I think he wanted your full attention.

I believe the angel was pantomiming in order for you to trust , and to hear from the Lord yourself.

I just sense that the angel represents and is a confirmation that Sandy was not “hearing” from the Lord, as she so desired at that time, so the angel was pantomiming, rather than speaking.

The angels pantomiming allows us to seek interpretation. It forces us to use our insight, our hearts and minds at the same time. Also pantomiming is a very simplistic form of communication, it transcends regular language and even a child can understand it.

Plus the playful angel sounds fun and also it can create in us a desire to know even more about what he is doing or asking.

Also without words it forces the dreamer to pursue the angel to find out what it going on. It draws us in and puts the ball in our court.

WHY DO YOU THINK THE RESTAURANT WAS ON THE LOWER LEVEL?

The restaurant was not on the same level as the school to stop confusion, see the actual hunger she felt was not for literal food anyway, it was for the food of the word, so in order to receive the food she had to seek after it, that’s why the angel was there to direct her to the food, if it was on the same level as the school there would have been too much confusion and she would never hear clear the voice of God because of all the other voices, that’s why God told her to slow down, listen and receive him, she had to get quiet before she could receive and interpret what he really wanted to feed her.

I think it was downstairs to also let her know that you have to work at things to get what you want, things dont just drop into our laps. We have to go out of our way to get fed both in physical and spiritual things.

School: An institution for learning, for instruction, the building, a group of persons, the education provided by a set of circumstances or experiences. (New College Edition – The American Heritage Dictionary)

Restaurant: A place to serve meals, (French) to restore. (New College Edition – The American Heritage Dictionary)

Why: (The school level reminds me of ‘head knowledge’ but a restaurant speaks to me of a place to be fed food from a menu – good for the stomach/belly. One can lead to ‘wisdom’ when applied – while the other gives ‘strength and fullness’ when chosen.)

The restaurant was downstairs to indicate the ‘steps’ to the ‘right’ place for intimacy with the Lord. Restored.

I thought of Mary and Martha’s story. We need to not worry about so many things but instead we should choose the ‘better thing” — sitting at the Lord’s feet. Intimacy.

In the zealousness of wanting to complete a task we can get ahead of the Lord, missing His instructions by moving too quickly. Trying to accomplish a task in our own strength & time table can weary & discourage us. The Lord, in trying to get our attention, will use many different avenues to cause us to see and hear Him. He is relentless in trying to get our attention when we have gone out in our own strength.

Luke 11: 41, 42 Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: but one thing is needful and Mary hath chosen that good part which shall not be taken away from her.

Matthew 11:29, 30 Take My yolk upon you and learn of Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Deuteronomy 6:5 Love the Lord with all your heart, with all your heart and all your might.

The most important thing is our intimate relationship with the Lord.

I see that going lower to be feed is a place of humility. To remember that we are to remain humble as the Lord feeds us.

The scripture verse that is quicken to me is 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people who are called by my name will “Humble” themselves. We are first to humble ourselves and then we are to pray, but if we miss the first part we could miss what the Lord has for us.

“Downstairs” was a place to overcome fear and go beyond personal comfort. Overcoming the fear and potential pain makes the panorama of a sumptuous place available. When the focus is on the pain, difficulty in overcoming stairs, etc., we aren’t in a place to see “what He has prepared for us.” [1 Cor. 2:9]

Am I willing to go and do whatever it takes to receive Rhema? If I am not willing to go where the Spirit leads then I will miss out on being in God’s presence and I must always make time for His daily bread.

The restaurant was on the lower level because it is away from all distraction and in a quieter and more private place. I believe that we can hear Him and rest in Him and eat from Him when He make us lie down in green pasture.

Just like He made the four thousand plus sit down and be quiet before he would feed them. Matt.15:35-36.

The restaurant wasn’t in an obvious place where everyone would expect or see it. It was hidden downstairs.

It reminds me about the parable of the Kingdom in Matt 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure a man discovered in a field. In his excitement, he sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field – and get the treasure too.”(LB)

Spiritual ‘fast food’ doesn’t satisfy for long. We need those times with Jesus where we make time to go and sit with Him and enjoy a ‘meal’ In His grace He draws us to Himself, stir up the longing to be with Him. I have found that He desires our fellowship even more than we desire it. John 6:48 “I am the bread of life.”

Prov 9:4&5 “As for Him who lacks understanding (God’s) wisdom says to him. Come, eat of my bread and drink of the (spiritual) wine which I have mixed.” (Amplified)

The restaurant being downstairs may be a reference to needing humility for perfect communion with the LORD. Or, in areas that have basements, that is often where the family room is…the informal portion of the house where there is a more intimate level of communication or knowledge about those around you. So, perhaps it is picture that God wants an intimate and personal relationship with us. He wants us to come as we are.

Down “steep” stairs and to the right was “a sit-down restaurant”…not fast food or quick bite! God desires a slowing down to digest the food…by sitting down. TIME to eat a meal…invest, nourish

The school level had many doors and no one was there in the hallway…the restaurant downstairs indicated a set-apart, come away from the hub-bub of the busyness; to eat without distractions.

School = Our Master Teacher, Jesus, Who educates us is above us. The restaurant below is for us as “students” sitting at the Master’s feet learning, partaking from the Bread of Life.

The way up is down…Kingdom principles

Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Mark 6:31

Luke 10:38-41
Martha opened her home to Jesus. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Taste and see that the LORD is good. Ps. 34:8

He has filled the hungry with good things…Luke 1:53

I believe that angel was pointing to downstairs (Foundation level) to go to get fed as the Word of God is our foundation and we must get fed at this level in order to understand and build higher.

Additionally- I believe the double entrance is a symbol for favor to receive the blessings of the Word

I think the restaurant was downstairs because…school level is easy access to knowledge and anyone can access knowledge. But the real spiritual food of intimacy is at a much deeper level than mere spiritual knowledge. You must get beyond “learning” and go much deeper and there you can feast on HIS presence. All that’s required of you is your time, attention and your willingness to go into that deeper place. The “steep” stairs also then could indicate a rapid descent into the deep where the true spiritual feast awaits.

I believe the restaurant was downstairs because it is a place away from all the busyness and a place to come to and enjoy company, good food, relaxation. Again a place to get away from it all.

Simply, as I believe we’ve all been learning, ‘The Way Up is first Down.’
The lower we go in soaking in the secret place, the more intimacy in this place we’ll receive and we will find every thing we need for life and godliness as we go to the low place. Deeper fellowship, dining with Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit.

It is interesting that the angel directed her downstairs to the right – I think this was just a play on words. The direction “right”, represents “write” and “downstairs” represents “down” … so essentially the angel was showing her that if she would just take the time to “write down” her rhema, she would be in the restaurant – eating wonderful meals with the Lord.

A reason why the reason the restaurant was put downstairs maybe to make it stand out. It forces the dreamer to seek for the food.

Going downstairs means having to make an extra effort and taking time out of your busy day to eat.

I believe the Lord is showing that we need to go deeper to get the deeper things of God to get our spiritual food. I believe it also shows that we need to bow lower to receive all the Lord has for us.

I think it represents a posture of humility and intercession to be in the lower level also it is the foundation.

Perhaps the restaurant (taking time to feed on the Word and spend time with God) is the foundational level that supports or undergirds the school.

I believe when we hunger and thirst for the Word and “eat the Word”, this is always at ground level. To use the Word is a level ariser. Every thing we do in our walk is at a “level” so with hunger being the beginning its a lowest level. Hunger will bring the Word to us, satisfaction can allow us to give out what we “ate”. Giving brings us to higher levels.

The angel pantomiming was I believe more effective than any words the angel could have spoken because if we have ears to hear we got the message loud and clear a mere sweep of his hands spoke volumes. As a messenger of the Lord He need only to motion in the direction and we will know

When you asked that question, it made me think about how we “listen” to pantomime. Sometimes we have to work a little harder to gain meaning. Where words usually spell things out for us clearly, in pantomime we have to concentrate on other communication cues and puzzle out the meaning.
