Harvesting Rhema

READER QUESTION:  HOW DO YOU HARVEST YOUR RHEMA?

I can see you have a process of hearing God and harvesting the rhema. I would be interested in understanding more about how you harvest and connect your rhema.

THE KEY TO “HARVESTING AND COOKING” RHEMA IS FELLOWSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT

Recording my rhema is something I have been doing since 1984.  I discovered with pix, visions and hearing, that I would totally forget in the morning what I saw and heard at night unless I recorded them.  Dreams are pretty easy to remember, but not the other ways God speaks at night.  At first I used a flashlight pen under the covers.  Then I moved to the other bedroom when my night activities kept Wayne awake and now I use a mini hand held recorder.  I am always excited to find out what I received in the morning, it is almost always a surprise!

FAITHFUL TO THE ASSIGNMENT

I developed the habit of keeping up, because I suffered too much NOT to.  It was a burden on me emotionally and there was little fellowship in it for me, to just do the labor and the job of typing.  So after much prayer, He gave me the passion and grace to change my habits. Part of the joy of doing it daily (as much as possible) is that I spend time chewing, researching scripture and pondering it.  If it is too much of a load, then it becomes a job.

There is nothing wrong with it being a job.  I understand part of my calling is to be a Mary, a scribe and so I do my best to be faithful to stay at that post.  Faithfulness IS a job and a commitment. But the joy of it, is the fellowship I gain from it with the Lord and also the people the Words minister to as we share increasing levels of revelations and confirmations regarding the subjects.

Luke 2:19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, who in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

GATHERING AND HARVESTING RHEMA

As to harvesting rhema, when I hear or see something during the day that is quickened to me, I am drawn by it and kindled to it.  That could be a quote, or a bumper sticker!  I speak it in the recorder and then when I type it, it is inserted into that date.  When I go to harvest it, often I realize that within a few days before or after that the Lord has been talking about that, and so I add it as an insert to the subject, but keeping the date intact of when it was actually given to me.  So as I harvest, I build themes like as you see the actual posts come out, with indented material, scriptures, quotes, etc.  The Lord gives me the ingredients of His food and then I compile and cook it.  I try to show the process so that people  learn how to fish for food, not just given a meal.

Isaiah 28:9-10 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and taken from the breasts. 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.

The actual connecting of the pieces is part of the fellowship I experience in Him.  It is not just a brain activity of compiling “stuff.”  I am keenly aware He is leading me with eye glances to a certain place, and quickened memory. He is the One bringing me all the pieces of rhema and then He uses other ways He speaks to help me connect them.  We are doing it together.  Most of it is being drawn and led by His Spirit, like a feeling to reach for my Words to Ponder book for an anointed hands, or a memory of a buzz word that He once spoke.  I type the buzz word into my database and sure enough that was the rhema He wanted inserted right there.

The whole process is a fellowship where I experience that He is encircling me with His Word.

Psa 139:5-6 NLT

You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!
